A Yakima/Thule rack can easily be purchased used for less with all the attachments, locks, etc. Plus it's much easier to resell later on. But I want a vintage looking basket rack so I'm in for mine.

I cut the cross bars on my Yakima racks so they barely fit diagonally in my trunk. It is nice to be aerodynamic but still have racks with me in case I need them.

I am the guy off ebay the makes roof racks for vw rabbits. I just finished this one today. Hand polished aluminum frame, shepley wood slats with polished stainless steel hardware. Asking $350 for this one just cause how long it takes to polish these. If you want one powder coated in any color it would be $275. Prices don't include shipping. Here are pics I took today. I love your roof rack. I'm going to look at one from a late 70's Ford Pinto wagon this weekend--I sent the owner a picture of yours and he seems to think it's a match.

What did you need to do to mount it? Did it require removing the headliner?
