KMAC Camber Kit Installation Problems

Recommended Posts

I bought a stage 2 camber kit 192016-2 for my 74 Tii.

I have one side almost finished but the special nut/bushing won't screw on the top of my Bilstein strut. The threads on my strut are M 12-1.25 and the threads in the special nut are M 12-1.5.

I have been trying for a week to find out if KMAC has this special nut in M 12 - 1.25 thru my supplier and thru KMAC but I can't get an answer.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Any suggestions on a solution?

Ireland and Ground Control kits require coil over which I don't have. Are there any other kits that work on a stock diameter spring set up?

read my reply to your first post below

and you need to pull the shock rod UP into the mount so

you can start the threads of the nut

the spring compressor and mount will rub the rod

making it sink down - patience , , , , , and lift it up

I am not sure about the stage one KMAC kit, But the Stage Two KMAC kit that I received came with a special nut-bushing and a special domed washer. The washer goes below the middle plate of the KMAC and the nut screws on the top of the threaded strut rod.

The special washer takes up some space on the threaded part of the strut rod, so once mounted there are only about two threads above the top of the middle plate. A regular nut will start on the shaft but become tight after two revolutions. So KMAC supplies this special nut-bushing. There are threads in the bushing and nut part of this piece. It screws down into the top of the strut mount.

I heard from KMAC tis morning. They are sending me two nuts that are M12- 1.25 and said that two would be included in future kits.
