  1. I have a late 320i radiator (plastic/aluminum) that I used to have in my tii, it's just been taking up space in the garage. It worked when I replaced it with a Silicon Garage radiator a few years ago. It has aluminum channel that was used to adapt it to the 2002 nose. It worked when I last used it, and had no leaks. $50 plus shipping.

    Thanks,

  2. Nice.... Sorry I missed it Ben. Actually, I just talked with Aaron's friend Kevin (Murray Motors), who lives near me. He is up for a gathering as well. I was out trying out my new 1974 license plates, just to see if I would get pulled over...!

  3. Ha, I got the reference to the Jackson Browne album from 1972.... even there, there is a connection. I almost bought a roundie tii that he originally owned. It was originally an inka '72 that had been painted white, and the documentation had his signature on several repair docs. I wonder if that one is still surviving somewhere.....

  4. I did a search but did not find any instance of a FAQer mixing both Bilsteins and Konis on a single car. I have found several instances where folks have mixed Bilstein Sports in the front with HDs in the back. Back in the old days, there was a fellow named Jeff Mulcahey who wrote a bunch of Roundel articles that went pretty in depth into the suspension on his tii. His favorite setup was HDs in back, Sports in front. Keeping that in mind, is it crazy to consider Koni Reds in back, Bilstein Sports in front? If I understand correctly, the Konis are gas, and adjustable, and thus you could possibly adjust them to the point that they would be equivalent to Sports. Is that a crazy idea? Should you not mix these together? Is there a downside?

  5. Selling a pair of Boge rear shocks. I bought these new from Maximillian when I was restoring my tii several years ago. These have about 50,000 miles on them, and still have a bit of life left. $20 OBO.

    Thanks,

  6. Set of Euro Turn Signals. I have had these in my tii for a while, and have decided to go back to more of a stock look. These are fully functional and complete. When I got them, I took the time to restore them as much as possible. I restored some of the color of the lenses, and repaired some cracks. You can still seem a few cracks in the drivers side lens (see pic 4), but they have all been repaired with a dremel tool and epoxy. The top of the housings have some surface corrosion, which is not visible when the hood is open. Overall, these are good driver quality signals. They include all four bulbs. Price is $110 plus shipping.

I am also open to interesting trades. In particular, I am looking for a good pair of rear Bilstein HDs.

    Thanks,

  7. Cleaning out my garage.... I have a Behr AC system from my '74tii. Included are most of the interior parts, including the console face, blower, both switches, wiring, console sides, brackets and shift plate. Some of the parts are cracked in places, but still functional. It's not a complete system, as no external parts are included (condensor, drier, receiver), but it could be the start of a good system. The printing on the console face is gone, and there is some angle aluminum reinforcement added to the console face to attach the console sides, which are in good condition. the console shift plate is missing the piece that mates to the shift surround. I will sell all the parts pictured for $100 plus shipping, or let me know if you see specific parts and we can agree on a price for the individual part.

I may be interested in trades as well, I am specifically looking for a set of rear Bilstein HDs.

    Thanks!

  8. I agree with what's been said above. All of the mods to the Sahara car are all the typical ones you see the folks on this forum doing. As a consequence, if you are looking for resale value, all those mods actually increase the value of the car, as long as you sell to a knowledgeable enthusiast such as the posters on this forum. Having said that, I have recently come to the conclusion that long term value mostly resides in keeping it as stock as possible. Toward that end, I thought the Jadegrun car was a better bet. In fact, I am in the process of reverting back to stock on my mods, which are highly reversible. I like that Jade car, however, you should know the seats are not from a '74. With regard to AC, you will never be able to compare the Behr system to anything even remotely modern. I tried for years and spent thousands and could not get there. Basically, my problem was solved when I moved away from Houston back to Colorado .... :)

  9. Looking for a set of 4 decent steel wheels for my '74. Planning on blasting and painting, so cosmetic condition not important, but would like them to be true. I am in the Denver, CO area. Thanks!

  10. This is a great topic, one I've thought a lot about. Being something of an old timer, I can remember when these cars were new, and I got my first 02 when it was about 6 years old. Back then, it was really hard to find one in good condition. Because they were relatively cheap, people bought them new and just thrashed them. So, I can remember a time when these were just "cars" and not collector's items. Nobody said things like, well, they're unsafe, not reliable, can't go in the snow, etc. Of course now they are 40 year old cars, but my own opinion is that with one exception, there is no reason not to have one as a daily driver. The one exception for me is that unlike 40 years ago they now salt the roads out here in Colorado in the winter. That magnesium chloride is very hard on the sheet metal, so I try to keep winter driving down to a minimum. Good luck on your DD!

  11. Just to add a bit of data to CD's post, the original springs on my '74 tii are as follows:

    Front: white/blue with "L&P 73 305"

    Rear: grey/green with "L&P 73 1108838"

on the fronts, the letter/number code is at the top of the spring, and on the rears, the letter/number code is at the bottom of the spring.

  12. Hey folks, I still have the original steering wheel for my tii, it's the typical 4 spoke with a pad in the middle. Im thinking about putting it back on the car, but the "spongy" rim part is separated from the steel core of the rim. So, it tends to slip around as you grip it. I wonder if there is anyone out there who's encountered this problem and solved it by somehow injecting some type of glue under the rim to adhere these together again? Any ideas?

    TIA
