Sorry Paul.  My name is Jeffrey Prisco and I live in Wake Forest NC which is thankfully very close to Duke.  I am hoping to get to the Vintage and would love to meet you.  My little car is probably one of the reasons that I am still here.  You see, my first car was a hand me down, 1971 2002 that my dad gave me.  I have had probably 25-30 of them in my life have loved these cars since I was a child.  It is great medicine and the only side effect is a smile!  These cars give more smiles per mile that anything that I know.  Since a 2002 was my first car and I love them so much, I wanted a 2002 to be my last car and leave it to my son who loves them too.  This story of this car is amazing.  I call it my tribute car.  Not in the classic sense but it is a tribute to the best of people and my friends.  I bought the car sight unseen.  My son and a dear friend who is a mechanic went to look at it and picked it up for me.  After a few months, (of course I complained the whole time) they finally shipped it to me but it looked like a different car than the one that I bought.  They still won't tell me what they did or give me a bill but they left enough for me to do and stay busy.  Since this miserable disease has handicapped me physically, they did all the things that they knew I would not be able to do or afford since I am in an experimental treatment program that is extremely expensive and not covered by insurance.  That is just the beginning of the incredible story.  Thank God for my little car and my friends!  Not to mention my wife and son.

Jeffrey I hope your treatment goes well!  You need a GFM too since your treatment is not covered by insurance.  Isn't it insane that this is how healthcare works in this country?

And Paul, hope you are better soon!

Rob, I'd be a little apprehensive of recommending HD rears and unknown fronts.

Stiffer shocks in the rear can lead to significant (read, rotating car) oversteer on rough surfaces

in corners.  Fun, until you hit a pothole and the rear snaps.

Unlike a stiff rear sway bar, the car will be stable in smooth corners, but dynamically

    unstable in bumpy/ undulating ones.

    t

who wrecked his raceycar just this way.

He should be ok if he's not racing it... ;)

I'd stick with OE unless putting the bilsteins on all corners.

But if you are going to upgrade the fronts eventually as well, go for the Bils.  Be aware tho that a stiffer (HDs are a very mild upgrade tho) shocks in the rear will tend to make the car oversteer more.  Fun if you are ready for it...

  4. Thicker (diameter of the wire) in front.  Got a caliper?  Or you can use a crescent wrench to measure one and see if it's loose/tight on the other.  And, yes, you should drive it around the block to settle things.  Also, 02s are famous for the "motorboat" stance with the front a bit higher usually...

  5. Just curious for those of you who have bought one of these off me or gotten one elsewhere, in your opinion (after seeing one in person), are they closer to Inka or Colorado???  When I first saw them I thought they were closer to Colorado, but someone else said they are closer to Inka.  Of course computer screens all vary to some degree (not to mention camera settings, lighting, etc.), so I'm asking those who have one or has seen them in person.  Ideally you've also seen an actual 02 in Colorado and/or Inka as well!  Just curious as my (actual) '02 was Chamo and I am not familiar with an in-person Inka or Colorado "look", if that makes sense.

  6. My parents (in San Hose) had to get a locking mailbox due to mail theft.  They live on a quiet residential street in the dullest subdivision imaginable.  Seems quite the plague out there.  Here in Indiana we leave the doors open, car unlocked, garage open, mail in the box, etc., and nobody bothers any of it...

  7. Larry Gray yours is going out today. :)

    ALSO THIS IS IMPORTANT:

Please use the "pay for item" thing on paypal (which charges me a small fee), because that way I can pay for postage on paypal which saves $$ (despite the fee) instead of going to the post office.  For some reason the limit for sending first class (cheaper) is 13oz in person, and 16oz online through paypal.  Do not send the money via "send money to friends and family" which does not let me pay for postage via paypal.  This helps me a great deal postage cost wise and helps you because you can track your purchase through paypal. :)
