  1. I called Ireland and they are gonna mail me the other ones. I gotta say they have been a great company to do business with. I like how they take the time to help newcomers.
  2. I have not had chance to call Ireland. I did a search a found a thread on this topic. It seams as if most rebuilt calipers are now shipped with longer (non-OE) stems. I now wish I would have pulled out my stems prior to mailing in my cores. Called napa and they said they have them. I am heading there now to see if they have ones that are a bit shorter. it appears as if this problem is more pronounced with the folks running 13 inch wheels like myself. I will report back.
  3. I have a 1971 bmw 2002. I started this morning on changing out the front calipers. I chose to order a set of refurbished calipers from Ireland engineering, which came to me in like new condition. I put them on with some new braided brake lines. Everything looked nice and neat until I went to put my wheels back on. The bleeder nipple(outside upper on caliper) now hits the inside of the rim? Do I need a shorter bleeder stem? Surely I don't have to now run wheels spacers? stock 13 wheels on car ....
  4. Did you find a car? I have a 1971 bmw 2002 roundie you may be interested in.Call or email me if interested in looking at some pics. I posted the ad on Seattle, Portland and Spokane Craigslist today. My name is Adam 509-954-9117
  5. I did purchase some fuel line (the cloth covered braided style) and it appears as if my car requires two sizes. The line I bought seems to be a good replacement in the trunk area for the gas tank to plastic hose pc. Under the hood the it seemed to work for the outlet of fuel pump to carb intake. Unfortunetly the pc where the fuel line pokes throught the fire wall, goes to the fuel filter then from fuel filter to fuel pump is a larger size? is this right? Is there two separate sizes?
  6. Scratching my head here. I was able to get the car running the other day for about 10 minutes. The excitement was short lived. I cannot seam to get the car restarted. I was dumping fuel directly into carb just prior to getting it to run. Today I seem to have a fuel flow problem? I took out the sender in the trunk and noticed the wire that reports fuel level was all twisted up. I will search out the solution to this in a bit. The main reason I was in the tank was to see if fuel pickup screen was plugged and it looked ok. By the way when you remove the cap and lift the tube towards the top of the tank it seems to get stuck on a lip? In other words I cannot seam to get the tube all the way out? Is there some trick here? This issue aside, I moved back towards the carb/fuel pump. Despite the fact that a new fuel filter is installed and I was able to observe the rubber diaphragm indexing in and out as I turned the car over....no fuel? I have the Solex (40 pdsi) on the bench and am now awaiting a rebuild kit. Maybe I ought to just forgo the rebuild and do an upgraded carb now? Is there a tell tale sign to look for when a fuel pump is going? Adam
  7. Too funny Ace Andrew. I was so appreciative with the advice you gave me earlier. I have a meeting with Hard Racing tomorrow at 10 AM. We are going to discuss the direction I want to go with the build. Definately wanting to rebuild the engine and do a fun streetable carb setup......
  8. Sorry about all the spelling on my last post. I forgot to mention that the brakes are dragging. It had a brake job only 900 miles ago but unfortunately sat for twenty years after that. I did put fresh brake fluid in but still the drag?
  9. Awesome feedback all. I am wondering why the car isn't getting fuel. The mouthful of gas and heet I got when I sucked at the filter proves this...YUK. I did dump some fuel directly in the carb and can get car to fire that way. I removed fuel pump and whatched diaphragm move as I turned car over. Yesterday I had the car running for at least 5 minutes on its own but now I can only keep it running by dumping gas directly to the carb? When dumping gas into bowl of carb I do notice some of fuel leaking from beneath it near the base of bowl. I just want to get car running well enough to get it to a car wash so I can bathe the engine/tranny area.
  10. BTW congrats newbie on your new ride! I didn't intend to hijack you post...Adam
