  1. A good friend of mine moved to Tennessee about 18-months ago bringing along his roundie “02”, he has not seen many at all, are there many out there?

He’s been to Nashville Speedway for their monthly “C & C” events several times, never mentioned see any other “02’s”, just curious?

"Shoot the Loop", Carmel Valley Road

  3. After the initial test drive a couple days ago, I was pretty happy, but very little play in the peddle.

Went for a drive yesterday and discovered that the brakes were dragging, (I actually had to pull over and back the nuts off the master cylinder to relieve some of the pressure).

Woke up early this morning, I needed to shorten the adjusting rod, which means taking off the master cylinder to get access to it. (I’ve had the master cylinder on an off sooooo many times, it takes me less than 30-minutes to take it apart, adjust the rod and get it back on the road).

Out for a test drive only to discovered that I shortened it too much, I was barely able to get it to stop.

Back in the garage to lengthen the rod, test drove, still a little tight.

Back in the garage again to shorten just a little bit, now it’s PERFECT.

Time to rest my back. 😊

  4. I got a lot of “to do” stuff off my checklist over the last week.

I replace the brake master cylinder, ended up introducing a bunch of air into the lines that I wasn’t able to get out through conventional brake bleeding methods.

I ended up purchasing a “Motive Product“ power bleeding assistant. Sure wish I would have bought one of these along time ago, it makes it very simple bleeding the brakes by yourself.

After doing a brake booster delete, modifying the bell crank for proper pedal ratio, an installing a generation two Corvette master cylinder, this is the best brake pedal that I’ve had since doing the swap back in 2017. I highly recommend purchasing a “Motive Product“ power bleeder.

I got my tac working again, the damn thing came unplugged at the Electromotive coil pack. I didn’t figure that out until after removing the gauge cluster two different times. I was about ready to install a spare tac that I had, thought to check the engine bay first, found the wire was disconnected.

While the gauge cluster was out, I cleaned all the glass, tighten up the set rings that pin the glass to the cluster housing, (got rid of that vibration noise that was driving me nuts).

The last thing on my checklist was to put new tires all the way around.

Time to hit them back road twisties.

  5. I just completed my 26th oil change since installing the S14 back in December 2017.

73,709 total miles on the S14 now, 120,0089 miles I’ve racked up since purchasing my “02” back in December of 2013.

I lost about 2 years of driving time during that period for different modifications and repairs. 120 thousand plus miles into bad for seven years of actually being on the road.

  6. Swapped out the guibo (again), re-set the preload on the center support bearing, and turned the front rotors (again).

I replaced the differential back on April 8th of this year with a Z3 limited slip inside a E21 case. I also replaced the transmission mount while I was down there.

After the differential replacement, and the transmission mount replacement, I encountered a slight vibration at around 2500rpm, but  it became violent at around 4000rpm.

I had a factory E21 transmission mount in there, and that thing split in half after about 68,000-miles of use. So I replaced it with an AKG transmission mount. Worst mistake ever, it was sending a tremendous amount of harmonics through the drivetrain.

I thought it may have been an issue with the improper preload on the center support bearing, so I changed that a couple of times, to know avail.

I contacted Blunt and purchased another factory E21 transmission mount, that helped out a ton, but I was still feeling a little bit of vibration going through the drivetrain.

With about 16,000-miles on this guibo, (they typically start the show cracks around the 15,000-mile mark), so I swapped it out for a new one. I also re-set the preload on the center support bearing, that seam to take care of the harmonics that was going through the drivetrain.

The last photo is the list of all the times that I replaced the guibo since installing the S14.
