    Hi, I'm new to the forum. Just bought a pretty original '72 2002 that would not start easy or idle. Rebuilt the 36-40 last weekend and it idled OK for a while. Put about 10 miles on it and it started stalling. it starts ok but idles high. when i look down the throat gas is spurting out of the center pipe keeping the throat plate covered, idling at about 1200. then out of the blue the spurting stops and motor dies. The other thing i noticed while checking the timing is that the timing ball (when vacumn hose off) is very erratic. this is my first 2002 but from experiance timing larger engines this seems wierd. I welcome and thoughts/comments or suggestions. thanks,
