Do you know if the 2002 LSD bearing covers were always machined billet?  The covers on my 2002 LSD are billet, and I've often wondered if they are original.

I see the LSD drive flanges are also still available.  Weird, but good.

Prior to the set I bought a few years ago I had never seen these in billet, they were always cast and machined as were the e21’s.

  2. So, in 72 or so the DOT required windshields stay in place during an accident. These strips were riveted onto the pinch to provide a bit of grip for the gasket. The rubber windshield gasket was also changed to accommodate the added thickness of the strips. If you used an early gasket the strips would show after install. For the most part we just chiseled off the rivets and removed the strips! Never had any negative issues. They have nothing to do with retention of the headliner.

Just as an FYI, I believe they are still available through Walloth & Nesch.

Hey Steve, they are indeed available from WN. More importantly the output shafts are also available. Funny, these bits were unobtanium in the 80’s-90’s and are now being reproed. Not sure how many 235/5’s were produced, but can’t be too many. The box in my turbo is in desperate need of a new shaft! Thanks for letting me know. Hope all is well with you.

  4. Hey, I am looking for a four bolt output shaft flange for a 235/5 CR transmission. Splines need to be excellent and bolt holes not oval. If you can help me out please send me a PM with specifics about what you have. Thanks!
