  1. You win the daily prize. I’ve been wondering how long it would take for someone to notice This kidney grill had its mounting posts broken off and I had to make it fit any way I could. I have a new one from W&N but still need the clamping pieces. Ed Z
  2. I have the green, illuminated e21 fog light switch. The spade terminals on the Amazon harness are too small for the BMW switch. I’ll crimp some larger ones on that harness. Not sure what’s up, but I popped the blade fuse tonight while I was driving around with the new fog lights on. I’ll look into it tomorrow… perhaps my janky H3 connection shorted..
  3. Blunt sells reproduction mirrors and the mounting hardware BluntTech Industries • REPRODUCTION FLAG MIRROR SET WWW.BLUNTTECH.COM Quality reproduction flag mirror set. Includes new gasket and mounting base. Hardware no longer included, the OE hardware is NLA. Ed Z
  4. Thanks a bunch for looking, Mike. I just now successfully fit an H3 lamp in place. Comparing the two lamps, the bulb looks almost exactly the same. In the bright sunshine I can’t tell a difference between the original lamp and the new H3 (on the left) perhaps I’ll be able to tell after the sun sets Ed Z
  5. I also found this thread on RetroRides and a guy asking the same question as me. Good pictures here: https://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/210721/kind-12v-bulb
  6. Here ya go, Mike. It’s marked Mazda 12v 55w and Made in England. It’s an overly complicated bulb and retaining system… Ed
  7. I will definitely be doing that if I can't locate an suitable original one! Thanks so much for the link and the part numbers! Ed
  8. Good day with the Inka. Fixed my non-op horn. Traced the wiring down to the relay… stole the one off my ‘71 and now the horn works. (Wish I could find a proper, round, Hella relay to replace it) Adjusted my valves for the second time in as many days. I got in a hurry yesterday and when I cranked it up it was ticking loudly. Took my time this morning and now it purrs like it’s supposed to. Wired in some vintage Notek fog lights only to find one lamp is out. That lamp is obsolete (made by Mazda, actually) I think I can make an H3 lamp work… we’ll see. Added a 3rd brake light up high in the rear windshield…some of the LEDs aren’t illuminating…oh well. Then installed new seat belts from W&N (sorry BlueDevils…) Then I drove it for about an hour, enjoying the cool weather we finally have around here. 😎
  9. I thought I’d pass on a quality piece of gear for those looking to add fog/driving lights. Most folks get scared of the wiring portion of this job. I bought a complete harness off Amazon and it worked beautifully. https://www.amazon.com/Nilight-LED-Light-Wiring-Harness/dp/B0948YVR9C?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1 The kit comes completely assembled with relay, fused power lead, switch, extra terminals and fuses. The harness is covered in a tough outer sheath and the terminals are covered, too. All for $19. Helluva deal… Unfortunately, one of my vintage Notek lights has a bulb that’s kaput… and they are obsolete. I’ll try to rig up an H3 lamp in its place… Oh, I forgot to add…those are Pierre’s fog light brackets. Very nice stuff. 2002 auxilliary lamp brackets WWW.PROBIMMER.COM Ed Z
  10. Drove the Inka down to my beloved 95 year old aunt’s house to see the solar eclipse. She’s enamored with the car Amazing display of nature’s wonders.
  11. Blasting through the central Texas Hill Country in the Inka car today. Looking for clear skies tomorrow for the solar eclipse 😎 Speedo reads high by about 10mph annnnd the odometer got stuck on this trip Ed Z
  12. Drove the Inka car back home from Barney’s place. Put some shine on everything. Now to drive it every day and see what shakes out. Ed Z
  13. For those with 5 speeds and long tube header, here’s how we modified my bracket. Ed Z
  14. The go-to suggested brake pad/shoe compound around here is the Porterfield R4-S. For rotors, I'd suggest Blunttech, he probably has them. Ed
  15. The Inka car has been reading hot on the gauge, so tonight I pulled the cluster. I needed to change the broken speedometer anyways. Added a pigtail ground to the back of the cluster and cleaned the main ground under the dash. That seems to have solved the temp gauge issue. I drove it out onto the county road at highway speeds and everything seems to be happy. Tracks straight and no odd vibrations. Topped it off with fuel and headed back to Barney’s to tweak the hot idle setting. It was hunting just a bit at hot idle and the idle speed was low. I gave the adjustment in the Tuna Can about an 1/8 of a turn and adjusted the idle stop a little bit. It seems happier now. I’ll recheck the timing and might need to re-tweak it, but right now it’s pretty smooth. IMG_0992.MOV Looks like it’s about time to bring it back home. It’s such a joy to work with Barney and his shop, he really has been a generous soul to help me out so much. I have 5 speed swap plans, so I’ll be back before too long. Ed Z
  16. Magnificent views... I'd drive off the edge from gawking out the windows. Moving to Portugal... you'll need to come up with a new FAQ handle EdZ
  17. Check this off-line thread about installing a Speedhut GPS speedo in a later 2002. Good installation pictures and write up BMW 2002 RESTORATION & MODIFICATION RATO2E.BLOGSPOT.COM Ed Z (I have that same speedo that I’m about to install in my ‘72)
  18. Tii airbox and mounting bracket painted and installed. Cleaned up the fuse box contacts and fuses. Checked all the lights and such; all those seem to be working well. Received some 1972 Texas plates, so now I can get it registered and start driving it! Still working on the gauge cluster… need to add a separate ground. Hoping to drive it home to my house this week; though working in Barney’s shop in this cool weather is so nice. Ed Z
  19. I'd say that looks pretty amazing for a 1st time attempt! Great job. Ed Z
  20. Barney helping out yet again today, getting things done on the Inka car. ST bar in front with new bushings. New trunk gasket. New URO tail light lenses In “Project Binky” fashion, we broke out the CAD system and made a bracket… This car was not a Tii, but I wanted to use a Tii airbox. I had an Alpina bracket for twin sidedraft airbox, we used that for the idea and came up with this. Works great. This car still has a standard brake booster and the box is snug, but I think some hard, closed foam will pad it just fine. I also had to remove the standard battery and tray. I installed an AGM battery down against the frame rail. It’s very solid. It’ll get get the edges ground smooth and we’ll paint it and the box with some Eastwood’s epoxy spray paint. Thanks again for all the help, Barney. Ed Z
  21. You will need to drill out the stamped steel transmission cross-bracket to accept the larger diameter threaded section of the new mount. Super easy and well worth it.
