  5. thanks for the encouragement thats what im hoping.
  6. yes all the plugs were out and i had removed the carb and also i did it dry i heard if you put a bit of oil in the cylinders it would give you a false reading. Plus the batt i was using didnt seem to turn it over as fast as it should.
  7. I picked up a 2002 motor and wanted to find out if its better than the one in my car. I than wanna rebuild the worse off one, so the new one i got i hooked a batt to the starter and put a compression tester on it and read about 110 across the board i know its good that they are all basically the same but is 110 a decent reading? Im going to do a test on the one in my car tomorow but i already know the one in my car burns a good amount of oil.
  8. ok ill check tomorrow thank you
  9. What have people used as flap bushings for the heater box or can you buy some from bmw? Also can you get new cables anywhere?
  10. still for sale if anyone is interested
  11. the only seven digit number i can find is on the other side of the block under the rear exhaust port 1255223
  12. the only thing i could find is a tag thats right above the starter right next to where is bolts to the trans, also i discovered i left out a 6/7 at the end of the trans id. Here is a pic of the tag on the motor i found.
  13. ok so im pretty sure this trans is a 4 speed not a five looking at the stock 02 cross member bolted to it the linkage is loose so its hard to be sure by just shifting. The trans number is 337217 and motor i.d. what i found is 1706 902826 if anyone can help me i would like to know year and make sure its a 2.0. either way its not that bad of a deal it comes with a radiator, alt, starter, weber 32/36 with a K&N all for a less than 200 dollar rifle trade.
  14. this may be a stupid question but is their a quick way to tell a 2.0 from a 1.8. Im going to buy a 2.0 and i wanna make sure Thats what im getting. Its carbed he said 76 and has a 5 speed on it.
  15. cool ill let you know tomorrow it wont be till after work so about this time tomorrow ill get back to you

  17. These were in the trunk of my 02 when i bought it not sure what model they are off of. They have a bmw stamp on them and they also say 5 1/2 by 13 only one has the bmw center cap. Not bad shape but no noticeable big scratches or scuffs just dirty. I am not sure what they are worth or worth anything at all make offer im guessing around 20 or so to ship each.

  23. to answer everyones questions back tires are good normal, and other than putting 16" rims on its all stock. Also i went to check toe and found it was a half inch out. When i went to adjust i found that the tie rod sleeve was bent as well as the control arm had a slight bend so first is to replace those. guy before me must have had a curb hit or something.
