  1. i dunno if anyone has seen this, but it really is an amazing thread! check it out http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=usetharch&action=display&thread=70135&page=1
  2. those wheels look like they are from a fox body capri
  3. i need the frame horns that go from the engine bay to under the floor pans and front floor pans if they are decent
  4. hancock, the advertising agent drives one that will smith flips cars 2 they are all over the place
  5. i still laugh at that association... the first time BMW made that connection was iirc in the '20s, awhile after the emblem had become the roundel. it was originally designed after the bavarian flag in the same style as the emblem had been for a previous name bmw had gone by (can't remember the name, but i'm sure wikipedia will know).
  6. how much for the frame horns that the front subframe bolts to and runs back under the floorpans? what sort of condition are they in?
  7. those weren't 2002's (i looked) they are Moskavitch's, which were laterally built Russian copies of Opel Kadetts. Same car Richard Hammond drove across Botswanna on Top Gear
  8. I searched earlier, but i couldn't find any posts about it. Anyone else catch all the 2002's in the movie Cars 2? There is a chamonix one that i spotted 4 different times and a red 1 i spotted once. Thought it was really cool to see pixar stuck them in the movie!
  9. i rented one when i was in italy last year... had a great time blasting (buzzing) around the alps with it. had to stay in low gears all the time in the mountains, but it was a ton of fun.
  10. no joke? Sweet, i'll give bagget a call and go grab it. i'm not gonna bother with a whole new harness, i'm just gonna get a cannon plug and replace the one you cut hahahaha
  11. cool, i couldn't find the years that the e12 head was on. Thank you!
  12. Ok, I'm a bit curious about the history of my car. I figure it is probably a mash-up of various parts, but I may be wrong! After looking up some details online here is what I've got: 72 2000 touring engine -e12 head with unmilled pump face -single solex carb wheels -13" baskets with "mille miglia" on them (I know the history of the race, but hadn't ever seen or heard of wheels with that on them I'm under the impression that the e12 head was on the Tii, but then if that were the case, shouldn't it have had dual sidedrafts?
  13. I think thats what I'll go with. But i'm just gonna drop my whole 1.8 in that runs instead of bothering with swapping over the head/manifold/etc onto the 2.0 that I don't know if it runs
  14. so I already have an F.I. m10 sitting waiting to be stuck in my '02, but I was looking around and found that Aardvark sells 32/36 that need rebuilds for $50 and rebuild kits go for $25. My e21 had been swapped to have a 32/36 and other than never having a choke hooked up, I liked it. Question is, do I go ahead and rebuild the carb, and go with that, or use the F.I. engine? Things I need for each Carb: -Carb $50 -Rebuild-$25 -Fuel line and pump (maybe) $? F.I. -wiring harness $15 -fuel pump from e30 $45 (from scrap yard) -ECU $45 -Hard line and tank tapped for return $50(ish) So ultimatly, F.I. will end up costing more and be more hassle, BUT it has benefits, but are they worth it? Also, my original carb was a single barrel that i havn't seen before, any ideas on what it is and if a 32/36 will be able to be used on that manifold?
  15. sweet man! i need to get to work on it, but i just got the subframe out ready to be stripped down and rebuilt with all new bushings.
  16. SWABBLES!!! this forum has EVERYTHING needed for 2002's! i still need to know the year of that e30 for wire diagrams and gasket sets! and i'm still jealous of the new garage... beats the pants off of the little english one i have. Can't even fit the '02 into it, so i have to roll the front or the back in to do anything with cover. Koblenz, the m10 that is going into my 72 uk spec touring is out of the e30. that car has an m50 in it and is STUPID fast and was a very well done swap.
  17. why would it need the tii tank? is the pump hole different than the normal tank or is it just cause it has the return? i'd planned on adding a return to the tank
  18. though i have found the scrap yard by my house has them for 30gbp so i may give a used one a shot!
  19. hey all, so i picked up a complete e30 1.8 m10 with all the fuel injection parts (was running in july when i helped pull it to swap in an m50) that i plan on putting into the 2000. Question was about the fuel pump. I've had bad expiriences with BMW pumps in the past, so i was thinking i'd buy a new pump. Any thoughts on this one? http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?catalog=31&partnum=1520993&a=UK31-1520993-74757 It seems to be a reasonable price, and comes complete. Thoughts?
  20. so, got a 1986 318i m10 sitting in my garage complete, i know it runs good (rode in the car before it was pulled), but its pretty weepy, so it'll need gaskets. the thought is, since i'll have to pull it apart to change the gaskets, would it be worth just swapping the head onto the old engine? then i get 2l instead of 1.8l, and i get to keep the smooth sided block, but with the F.I. Thoughts?
  21. hey thanks for those links! funny story, i was going through the receipts from past work on the ar and found a receipt from jaymic for door skins. called them up to see if they had anymore and said they havnt carried them for 10 years! too bad it wasnt repaired right in the first plae so i could mark that off the list!
