Having a little rust work done on my car
the body shop guy asked me to find out if any replacement panels are available
such as driver's floor- spare tire well
the usual suspects
does anybody make/offer this stuff ?
I looked through the links here, but didn't see anything.
thanks
and Happy New Year All

thanks
I was thinking the same thing.
I am going to make sure they can mask those off
( as well as the threads at the top.)
if not, I will just let them do the cleaning, and I will repaint.
thanks again for your help

strut assy is off the car and in the vise.
the spring is quite loose- can't really fly off that I can see
-
I want to take the front spring/shock/housing assy apart, so that I can get the
housing/spindle assy powder coated. I got a spring compressor, but the spring seems to have no tension on it. the fine thread nut is loose. can I just remove that large nut, and pull the shock / spring off?
anything to worry about?

I found this old post of yours, and it's very helpful

These drawings you post are great!
question: is there a book for sale that contains them all along with the referenced part numbers / item numbers?

Is this still available? you have one, or more?

starting in on my front suspension/steering while the engine is out.
can any one tell me, do I need to deal with compressing the spring in order to remove the ball joint at the bottom of the strut

tell me the number on the bearing, or its seal, and I can tell you its size
( which you can compare to the hole)
it is certainly a metric size

they are not chrome- plastic

Do you mean the actual steel hinge assy's that are screwed to the side of the seats? they are all present. but if it's some kind of plastic cover, there's nothing like that.

just replaced my old stock seats w. recaros
( Dave at aardvark did a great job!)
anyone want my old seats, they're free for the taking ( sans rails)
they are both are in bad shape; I am not sure anyone would want them
for recovering, parts etc.
otherwise they're bound for the dumpster.
pick up only

thanks one and all
I ended up taking it to Stirtz Machine in Oakland
the owner seemed very knowledgeable and is a long time former 2002
owner himself.
will keep you posted

pulled my '74's head this morning.
any recommendations as to machine work in SF Bay Area / East Bay ?
mike

it could indeed
will try to do compression test before holiday
at this point it will be on 3 cyls, as # 1 the valve will not open at all.
what I remember from the old days- I can look at / feel the ridge at the the top of the cylinder once the heads off. we'll see. mission creep indeed!
by the way- when i yank this head, and good position to set the engine into
so re assembly is easier.
is there a timing mark on the crank pully and or cam gear that line up at TDC ?
any hints to make this easier much appreciated!
i know-I should have done a compression test before i bought the car
