  1. Looking for a fuel injection valve PN 13531252861 in good condition to replace a leaky one in my 1974 Tii. Could send you mine in exchange.
  2. I've been driving my Fjord Blue Tii here in Bozeman Montana, a place where even new BMWs are rare. It too gets smiles from those in the know... mostly we aging Baby Boomers. But it's nothing like the double-takes I got driving a red Euro edition smart fortwo cabrio I imported from Germany three years before Penske's Smart USA started offered them for sale in the US. That tiny rear wheel drive, turbo-charged and intercooled microcar was a hoot to drive and would literally stop traffic and induce fits of laughter from dually pickup drivers. I wouldn't have drawn more stares if I'd been driving a flying saucer down Main Street. Unlike the smart, however, the 02 is admired for it's timeless style and credibility rather than just it's novelty.
  3. Yes, thanks Nick and Dana for identifying the source of the tubes. Top End Performance's "Replacement Air Tubes For Tii Injection" had indeed replaced the stock plastic runners. Top End's "Air Filter pipe with K&N filter" and Ultimate Front and Rear Strut Shock Tower Brace were also installed in my car. I contacted Steve Nelson at Top End to inquire if repair couplers were available and he immediately replied: "The (silicone) couplers (for the steel air tubes) could wear through or get a tear although that is very unusual...it should be very easy to inspect and find if that is the case...$10 per silicone coupler...Not likely you will find at a parts store...Those are high pressure Silicone Turbo couplers which is why they usually will outlast the car."   4. My '75 had a Tii engine installed by a former owner. The car has a rough and inconsistent idle and hard cold starts. I'm lucky to know Bill, an independent mechanic who worked for a BMW dealership in the early 1980' thru 90s and really enjoys working on 02's. His experience with 02s is much appreciated in this small town. Bill believes the hard cold start issue is caused by a malfunctioning cold start valve and a new one is on the way. The idle issue he things is due to a leak in one or more of the intake tube hose connectors. The Tii engine is an early one. I found four original plastic intake tubes in the spare parts box that came with the car and they appear to be in good condition. At some point in the past, aluminum tubes replaced these stock plastic tubes and were attached using 8 short hose lengths. I understand this was a common mod. Photos attached. Does anyone know why the seemingly undamaged plastic tubes would have been replaced with aluminum tubes? Were these aluminum tubes available as a replacement kit? The plastic intake tubes are available from BMW Mobile traditions, but they're very expensive at $160 each / $740 for 4. Any enlightening back story on intake tubes appreciated.
  5. BMW sells a new replacement washer bottle PN# 61-66-1-350-871 for $40.50 at dealers. 2002AD sells original round ones for $100. They also sell square ones for $50. http://2002ad.com/storeworks/view_item.cfm?id=1655 My round bottle also has a big melt indent and a missing mushroom thingie where the pump attaches. A lot of original bottles must have fallen on hot engines.
  6. Aha moment. That's what's causing the confusion. Photo of my brake booster area attached. I can see why the washer bottle and pump was removed from the brake booster when they modified the air filter. The shock tower brace may also be in the way. Is there any good reason why I can't spot weld a bracket and mount the pump bottle bracket where it was on pre '75 02s?
  7. Thanks guys, Yes, my car was manufactured in Nov '74 and delivered to the dealer in Feb '75. The Kugelfisher FI was later installed by the owner and the MDD ignition installed at some point after that... thus the coil in the wrong location. Looks like I'm missing the bracket shown in Jason's photo. This explains the mystery... not many 02's around here to compare with. So if mine is a '75, I should be able to bolt the bracket on? Thanks guys. What a great forum!
  8. My recently purchased '75 2002 had the windshield washer pump and bottle removed by a prior owner. I found the assembly in a spare parts box that came with the car, repaired a small leak in the bottle, cleaned and lubed the pump, and hooked it up to a battery to confirm it works and pumps water. Now I'm trying to figure out exactly how and where the pump bracket mounts to the engine compartment. I've looked at photos of the assembly in place, but the view of the mounting holes is obscured. I can't find two holes in the engine bay that align with the two holes in the pump bracket. (See attached photos) Is my car missing another bracket? I've attached a photo of my passenger side front engine bay where the washer bottle/pump should mount. Anyone have a photo of how it's supposed to look? Also, what size screw is used to bolt the washer pump bracket to the car? - Ron Gompertz in Bozeman Montana
