IMO nothing beats SoCal. The cars is # 1. Ive seen, Bugatti's, Ferrari's, RHD Nissan Skylines, Lifted Kodiaks, cruise nights for Bikes, cars, scooters, ETC and this is just near my house in San Gabriel.
# 2 FOOD FOOD FOOD ! I live 10mins from the best street tacos, 10mins from the best Hong Kongnese food this side of Macau, Taiwanese food is second to none, best breakfast burritos ive ever had, 10mins from street fruit, street bacon wrapped hot dogs...
Plus, im 1 hr from beach, 1 hr from the snow, 1 hr if I want to take my truck mudd'n, 40min from some of the best canyons to carve out some corners.
I would not like to permanently live anywhere else.
Cant beat driving anything you want most of the year long. My son owns a vert E30. Top is almost always down.

I read a lot of threads, not on this forum, but E30's ones and a couple of people chimed in and stated that the hd's may have a different valving.
the HD's bottom out quicker than the Sports do when the car is lowered, but pretty low. I don't think cutting one coil would make the HD'd bottom out. But according to the forum, the sports are better for lowered cars, as apposed to the hd's which are OK for possibly half a coil or one coil lowered, but anything lower they'll bottom out over speed bumps, and when carrying passenger you can feel the difference.

To the best of my knowledge and so far from all the threads on this forum, and other sites regarding the off set of rims, would the following be true :
For example if I has customs wheels made 15x7 for rear and say 15x6 or 15x6.5 for the front, and I was able to choose any or the correct offset, I would NOT have to run spacers correct ? keeping in mind tire rubbing, and assuming I pick a series tire the would have a bit of a stretch to clear so the tire would not be a factor, would this be true ?

Click the link at the bottom of my post. That goes to my project blog. I ended up getting longer studs. I could thread the lug nuts on 7-8 threads so it was pretty safe. But I like being sure and I like the looks of the longer studs.
Thanks, checked it out. Sweet thread on your build.

15x7 is about it. My car is lowered and my fenders are rolled, I still get slight rubbing on the outside at full lock. I run 195/50/15 tires. I could probably fit 205s out back. My wheels are Rotas for Miata fitment (ET30, and I run 3mm spacers.
Hey David,
do you have some pics of your ride ? Also, for 3mm spacers you didn't need to swap out for longer studs right ?

I have been wanting to do another one(I did a 2002 one when I was doing Depth of Speed) and have been looking around to do one. I think I have the a good candidate lined up so hopefully we can get it done soon!
Alright ! Can you drop any hints ?
-
The front will rub if I went any lower. The rear are just perfect with a little fender rolling job.
Hey Jesse,
the front will rub the fender, or somewhere on the inside when you are turned lock to lock ?
-
Look at my pics gallery. I'm running 15x7. et27 on 195/45/15 yoko/federal combo. It's on ST spring, cut one loop in the front and half a loop in the rear. both on Bilstein Sports.
Jessie Jake
Hey Jessie,
you think if you went lower it would rub front or back ?

I know this has been covered before, I read quite a few threads utilizing the search function. Fairly easy.
My question :
What is the widest wheel width one can do (front & Rear) without turbo flares, cutting, welding, or any heavy modifications and the car lowered. I know tires are a factor as well.
Basically a 15" wheel, maybe with some light massaging to the fender, rolling them maybe but a pretty stock set up as far as brakes, fenders are concerned.
If anyone who is actually running some wide 15" rims, without flares and the car lowered, please some pics over. I've browsed through a lot of photos would like to know some widths and issues if any.

Peet's coffee off the 210 at Rosemead??? Time???
Sounds Good im in. We'll let the caravan dictate the time. I'll show up whenever. If the 210 is too far north, I can do the 10fwy or the 60fwy as well. Im pretty near by all those fwys. This way you don't have to go out of the way. Let me know...
-
I live in SGV, but I will meet up wherever to caravan. I wont be in my 1600 though
but I do have a go pro, and son who is a photog and would love to get some caravan shots....let get a head count and meeting point.
