  1. Thanks to everyone! I'm pretty new at this and I'm amazed at how helpful and knowledgeable, not to mention fanatical, "real" 2002 owners are! After measuring the chain slack (a little under 3/16" and a very close inspection), I've decided to leave it alone for now. I did get the new timing chain, rails and the rest of the engine back together and it is running like new! I won't be driving the car a lot and I'm planning on doing the body work soon. Next year or year after if I still have the interest and stamina I'll probably get a hoist and engine stand and pull it to rebuild the bottom end -- then I'll put in the new gears and chain (possibly a new oil pump). Thanks again to all!
  2. I just put a rebuilt head, timing chain and guides, and of course a million other parts while I was at it into my 74 2002. I noticed that the oil pump chain has some slack in it. I have had some nice advice on replacement of the chain, etc. (Thanks a million Kurt -- also for the lower timing cover). Anyone else out there replaced an oil pump chain with the motor in the car? This looks pretty difficult to me. Also if I replace the oil pump chain itself will it be about the right tension? Would I need to put a shim in? Or is that a you will find out when you get to that point situation? The oil pump itself seems to be working well (when I unscientifically viewed the amount of oil being pumped out of the oil distribution tube). Any advice would be helpful. I do not have an engine hoist or lift at my disposal. Also if I don't replace the chain now... I plan on maybe driving the car another 10K -- 12K before doing a complete rebuild would it be problematic? My guess is no as long as the chain doesn't somehow fail and beak. If I elect to have someone do this part of the job for me any recommendations for a mechanic in the Albany, NY area? Thanks to all.
  3. I will take the lower timing chain cover if still available. Email sent. Thanks -- Chris.
  4. I am starting to put back together my engine and can't find the upper water housing stud (the longer one)! Dammit! Anyone have one they'd like to sell? Thanks!
  5. Any one have or know where I can get 4 of those trim pieces that go into the top of the seat? These are the trim pieces that the headrest posts slide into. My black plastic ones have broken completely. I don't know what the proper term is for this part, but I know there is one! Thanks!
  6. Nice job! What did you use to clean it with -- mine needs a clean up! Thanks!
  7. I'll take the trunk lock & key if it will fit my 74. Is pay pal OK? Thanks and email sent.

  9. I have a really nice original Blaupunkt stereo radio from a 74 2002. Comes with original wiring and speaker/console mounting plate. All functions work including stereo indicator light and illumination. Chrome on one of the inside knobs is gone and plastic tabs on mounting bracket are missing (aren't they all, but still looks excellent). Original BMW knobs -- radio looks and works fine. $110.00 shipped. A few signal lights. Both sides American(bubble) and both sides Euro(flat). Need some work, but someone with a little skill and time could get a working set of Euros for cheap out of these. Missing some pieces and some connectors broke. One of the Euros is missing bulb assembly, but could probably convert one of the American ones over if you had some skills and a little time. These are all in poor shape and need some attention. In any event -- these would at least all be good for some spare parts. $37.50 shipped. Email for pictures.
  10. I'm looking for an old vintage Momo -- Interested in the Jackie Stewart Momo. Does it come with the hub? Are the stripped screws stuck in the hub or are the screws stripped in the hub? Could you send a pic of the item with a side view? Thanks -- Chris.

  13. I'd be interested in two of these steelies if you still have them. (I'd want the ones stamped 74 for my 74 Atlantik) if you could ship them to 12804 (upstate NY). Would you take $50.00 for those two shipped? Thanks - Chris.

  21. Nice work! I am thinking of getting a carpet set from esty. Seems recommended. Your car is really sweet. Quick question -- I notice you have Konis in your car. Do you have the adjustable fronts? How do you like them? And where might I buy them? Thanks a bunch -- Chris
  22. Hi There, I'd love to buy this carpet from you, but don't have enough money now -- bummer. I did notice that you may have had a lower grade tan complete carpet set for $135.00 plus shipping at one point. I'd take a set of that carpet off your hands. I have a 74 2002 with 4 speed -- my daily driver. Thanks, Chris
