  1. I liked the Fiat 500 until I saw J. Lo doing an advert for them...total turn off to the car now!

Totally agree. my wife and I had been admiring them as they have a Fiat dealership right next to Costco here, but when we saw the J lo ad we just looked at each other and shook our heads.

As for the survey, if you read carefully it is actually defining common behaviours among people with the "ability" to drive stick, not what you own or drive daily.

I love my automatic and it is my daily driver. I drove stick for many years here in LA and am glad to have a break from the constant shifting because my knee joints get sore. My son is 11 but when he gets closer to 16, perhaps swapping it to a 5-speed will be a father son project.

  2. I spotted this car a long time ago and it has been sitting for quite sometime at a local mechanic's shop. I stopped by today to ask the story on it and see if he would sell any parts off of it. He said he would prefer to sell it as a whole, and he does not have the title. Below are the pics I took with my blackberry.

He said it has all new shifter bushings and that the car runs, but the voltage regulator was removed (probably for a customer's car or something in a pinch?).

The pictures speak for themselves, it's pretty rough, but maybe there's something I don't know about this car that would be of value. This isn't my first old car, but I am new to the 2002 world. I'm basically just doing the guy "a solid", and I of course would hate to see the car get junked along with a number of somewhat usable parts. One thing going for it is it did not smell/feel damp inside and it rained here in So Cal yesterday. I felt under the driver's carpet and it was dry, but I couldn't pull up the carpet padding.

There are some things that don't add up, like the wood grain facia, etc, who knows.... and the frigiking console is cracked so don't ask! it looks like it was last registered in 2002 (coincidentally). Anyway, here are the pics. The guys is friendly, he said he wanted $2,500. I told him he would probably get more money selling the parts off of it 1 by 1, but I think he just wants to free up the space instead of letting it bleed slowly. Anyway, just email me here through the FAQsite and I'll give you the guy's info. Like I said, I have nothing to do with the car except I'm just trying to help a brutha out, this site and its members have already helped me multiple times and I've only had my 2002 for 3 months. I wish I could tell you more about the floors, but I couldn't really see under it. My 6 year old said we should purchase the car immediately! $2,500 seems steep, but I think he just threw that number out and would probably negotiate to get it out of there.

  3. Thanks all. i did more research and see that there are actually 2 sizes of the 5-blade fans: 360mm and 400mm and the 360 is supposed to fit in the shroud, but based on my limited knowledge of the 2002's, people should probably do their own research on this. I just ordered a 400mm 5-blade fan and a new thermostat because i don't know how old it is.

  4. I had these cut a while back, these are perfect for installing VDO, autometer, stewart warner etc requiring a 2" to 2 1/16" size opening. they are made of 1/8" thick ABS plastic, the finish is called "haircell" which I would describe as a non-intrusive texture.

Most of them are the width of the Radio DIN opening, just slightly less than 7.5" wide with varying degrees of height.

I also have them in 7" widths.

Please note that all panels are 1/8" thick, some of the panels are shown below are in stacks but all are the same thickness.

You can install them from behind using clamps or using screws through the front if you want to drill your own holes. I am selling them as is, and you can trim them as needed with a simple file or sand paper/hacksaw, etc. If you have special needs, let me know and I can try to help you.

I'd like $13 shipped for the 3-gauge panels and $20 for the 6-gauge panels. I accept PayPal and I don't charge paypal fees so that's the price. If you want to send me a check or offer a partial trade me something, i'm open to that too, but please understand that I'd like to wait for the check to clear first if you go that route. Thanks.

  5. I guess i should have specified "original to the car" which is of course not necessarily OEM. There's actually plenty of room, though I was wondering if the speaker magnet had any effect on any of the relays or electricals under there. The magnet is really powerful on this speaker. I'll post a pic later of how it looks installed, they definitely don't look out of place. you could probably make them pretty easy.

  6. I already have one, but want to put an updated radio in the console and don't want to cut mine up so I can go back to original. I really only want the front panel, but let me know what you have. Mine has the knobs that tilt up 45 degrees, but I don't think it matters which one you have. Thanks

  7. If you're swapping out your clock for a tachometer in your instrument gauge cluster, here is a picture of the black tachometer wire you need. I did multiple searches on here before I attempted this simple procedure and noticed that many people said they couldn't find it. I did the swap today, so here is a pic of the wire in its natural state:

Here it is, all bundled up nicely from the factory

Here it is, with the tape cut to give extra room for connecting the wire to the back of the tach

While i was in there, I installed an e21 foglight switch in anticipation of a future front foglight set up. I thought i might as well put it in now while i had the cluster out. I'm not crazy about the black knob, but it's functional which is all that matters.
