I could spend all day in the car park, what a brilliant group if cars , I like the bubble arched MGBGT . So many cool and rare cars , the Renault Alpine A110 is an awesome machine . Once again , thanks for posting .

It's even better than that!  The MGB GT which you so like, is in fact a MGC GT.  So you get a torquey straight-6 which sounds absolutely brilliant...

This is a link to the few photos and videos I took or got from the dealer:

I'm no expert, but I would not have expected a one-piece dash.

That is in fact a two-piece dashboard.  So correct for a '72.

The pointy front bumper guards were stock on European models from 04/71 and until end of production.

  3. Whooooaar... what an awesome reference piece!
What I wouldn't give to be let loose with this unmolested and factory-fresh 02 and a camera.
So many tiny, small details which would be great to document from a car like this.
Really hope the pictures which the dealer takes will go into real detail...

  4. - and now there's more Gentlemen.  :)
We've just published an article on the Classic Car Park at the Revival - so basically where anyone arriving in a classic car gets to park up.  While there's obviously no track action out there in a field, I can assure you that there are some astonishingly sweet rides!
For BMW's, spot the Golf yellow, RRL 2002tii driven from Germany, the Sahara beige 2000 NK equally driven from Germany, the Chamonix 2000CS from France, the Baikal 3.0Si driven from the Netherlands and not least the Inka 3.0CSi on British plates which happens to be one of the feature cars in the latest Classic & Sportscar magazine.  Heh... and that's just the BMW's...

  5. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the Revival report...  ?
Who knows, it might even motivate some of you to attend next year.

FANTASTIC write up, Anders.  Goodwood has been on my bucket list for some years now.  Your enthusiasm has me wanting to book tickets and search out a proper tweed outfit :)

Well done, and tremendous pictures. (perhaps you need an assistant for next year's event?)

    Ed

Ed, I could always use a good assistant! ?  As I wrote in the report, it's physically impossible to see everything at the Revival, so there are things I missed out on for the report.  Yes, I could use a hand...

  6. Hey guys and gals,

I was fortunate enough to spend last weekend at the epic Goodwood Revival.
Was thrilled to see two Neue Klasse's taking part in the St. Mary's Trophy which runs with first heat on the Saturday and second heat on the Sunday.
There's a full report on our site, ViaRETRO.

WARNING TO ALL!!: The report is by no means BMW-only.  There is heaps of other marques present as well.  But now that you've been warned, if you're still keen to see more, here's a link:

Wonderful!  Thank you for sharing with us.

The 2000 in Schwarz is really nice along with the black 5 series.

Hmmmm... do I sense Mr. Gerock possibly adding something Schwarz to his garage sometime soon...?? ?

I happen to know that the 2000 with the twin round headlights and TiSA steel wheels will probably soon be coming up for sale.  However, it's of course RHD...

    What a great sticker!

Keystone serviced my first two '02s when they were in Bournemouth ("a stones throw from the beach"). BMW finally threw money at the Owner (Tony Heron) to give up the premises so they could make it a dealership, so he moved to Ringwood, where he lived, and re-opened his independent shop. Ah, memories.

Edit: found a card from of the sales reps of the day.

Les, I too thought the rear window sticker was pretty neat.  Even more so with the patina...  ?
Pretty cool company card you found there!  Is that with one of your 02's which you had serviced there?

Are these factory 02 wheels?  Never seen any like 'em either here in the States or even in pictures...were they GB market only?  Very attractive with those little hubcaps, reminiscent of the CS coupe wheels.

    Hi Mike,

They're period aftermarket wheels from Cromodora.  They were relatively common for Fiats of that era, but quite rare in 4x100.
Like you, I quite like them - they're ultra stylish when in really good and clean shape.
As it is, I currently have two complete sets of them in my lock-up.  If you were interested, I might be willing to part with one set...

Hey Anders. I'm never gone, I just don't come around much. I have like 20 messages in my inbox I need to go through.

I still have a handful of 02s and some 911s, but my focus lately is on living life, not wearing shoes, and more 911s than 02s at the moment.

But yes, I can help with you turn signals. I have another batch of 5+ to be ready by late this month, of which I  sell to the guys on the waitlist, then offer for sale.

    Cheers.

Thanks Lorin for bringing this to my attention.

    Danco, that's excellent news!  ?

Both that you are living life, but equally that you are still an 02 owner and present in our little community...

I've actually just received an email from a friend in Germany who apparently has a Italian indicator in his stash.  I'll have a chat with him tomorrow to find out which condition it's in and how much he wants for it.  Should I end up not buying that for whichever reason, I'll certainly ask you to put me on your waiting list.

Thx for getting in touch Danco. ?

    Thx Dave,

But hasn't Danco more or less left the 02 scene??
I could be wrong, but I believe he sold both the 1600-2 and the tii, and is now into air-cooled 911's...
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

  12. Love all the pics!  Great initiative...  ?

I've got a few pics of my old man's 02's owned in period.
The first is of his '74 Inka BMW 2002 which he bought less than a year old.
The second pic is of the '73 Chamonix BMW 2000tii Touring which replaced it not long after (pardon my fathers dresscode - it was the seventies nonetheless...  ? )

And while the third pic doesn't include any 02's, I figured you guys might like it anyway.  It's the small-town BMW & Honda dealership which my father co-owned with his best mate.  The pic is from 1978.  My father actually sold his Chamonix 2000tii Touring to fund it, just like his mate sold his Agave 2002 to fund his half.  I still recall running around in the workshop and salesroom as a small kid - good times...

The next pics are of my NullZwei - a '73 Verona BMW 2002.
I bought it in '92 as my very first car!  It came with fully documented history and three owners before me - all of whom I know.  I've been handed old paper pics from them, which I think is pretty cool...
So the fourth, fifth and sixth picture is of my NullZwei during the first owner's (Leif Nielsen) time with it between '73 and '78.
The seventh and eight picture are from between '78 and '81 where it was with its second owner (Arne Andreasen).

  13. ThxMike for your supportive words.  Appreciate it...  ?

I'm glad to hear that your '73 is just about back on the road again.  And I know you're right - my Green Devil will of course be the same soon enough.  It's just that the whole process is somewhat annoying.  I liked the patina which my Green Devil displayed with pride.  Some of that will be lost now.  And I also just wanted to get on with entering historic hillclimbs here in the UK, all of which will of course be delayed now.  But stil, we will get there in the end...

  14. First of all, a big thank you to all of you who have replied either here or on ViaRETRO.  Your kind words and support genuinely mean a lot to me right now.

You are of course right, the damage to the bodywork is of course fixable.  I know that my Green Devil will both drive, race and live again.  It's just that it's such a nuisance!
Frankly, my biggest concern is whether I'll manage to find a left side Italian front indicator.  That'll be a big challenge...

Sorry to hear about your accident and glad you weren’t hurt. Time and money will fix it. I have the same alloy wheels on my Alfa... if I had a spare I certainly would offer you one, but as you stated they are rare. Who manufactured them? What does your reference to L.O.W. stand for?

The alloys have LOW written on them (as part of the casting).  I also have a set of original LOW center caps which however need a bit of work before I can use them.  But I haven't managed to find out what those three letters stand for.  Presumably the abbreviation stems from the Italian alloy wheel manufacturers full name??

And yes, as long as we don't find any hairline cracks in the alloys, they will definitely be refurbished and should be usable again.

Simply shitty.  This makes me want to fast track my cage.

    P.S

The tire looks kinda shredded, especially the sidewall.  Did you try to drive it home?

I was angry, frustrated and perhaps half a mile or so from home.  So yes, I limped home at 3mph on the already ruined tyre resulting in the sidewall shredding.  Don't care...

So onwards and upwards I suppose!

My .02 cents is drive it like you stole it! You'll never worry about rock chips, door dings or odd shopping cart finding its way into your quarter panel. Besides, you don't really know that's where you want to spend your money until you wring it out. Could be some mechanical sorting or improving it may need that only shows when you are pushing the car.

    Drive it........................

I already drive it like I stole it!  And trust you me, I've already pushed the Green Devil right to the limit plenty of times too...  ?
That's of course not to say that something mechanical can't possibly go wrong.  I think we all know that something can always go wrong...

Anyway, I get what all three of you are saying.  Thx!  ?
It luckily ties in nicely with what I most want to do.  Just keep driving it and enjoying it in its rough n' ready state.
But what do I do when the day comes where I can't postpone fixing those doors and the cracked outer front panel any further??  I really don't want to restore the car!  So how do I best fix local body issues which will require paint, without committing to a full resto?  It's a tough one isn't it?

Haven't visited them, but on my list for the next trip.

The Carrol Shelby Museum is there.

Count's customs has his shop there. I think he has a nice stable of cars on site. Probably have to buy a ticket now to go visit.

If you are into Rat Rods. WelderUp is there too.  Also probably need to buy a ticket to tour.

The Shelby museum is cool, only about a 20 minute drive from the strip, and you can do it in an hour.  A good fly by attraction.  There is a company that rents Ferraris and lambos at Las Vegas international speedway and you can do hit Laps pretty cheap but you have to book ahead.

Vicleonardo1 and Dan Seattle, thx for the advise!  ?  I did indeed go there too.  Spent about half a day there - loved the atmosphere...
So here's the second article from my Vegas trip:

One more article to come, and i promise that will be BMW orientated...  ?

About time you got an old NK

And you think I don't know that?
I knew very well it was a big mistake when I sold my '65 NK 1800Ti.  I still went ahead and did it though...??   ?
    Must find another someday...

  18. Help me out here Gents,

I've finally got both my 02's together in one country - and this time it's conveniently even in the same country as I live in.  That's real progress for you...  :P

    http://www.viaretro.com/2018/05/my-green-devil-has-arrived-whats-next/

But now what??  Do I proceed to drive my Green Devil like I stole it?  I know that's really all I want to do!
Or do I treat her to a little tlc?  She needs it if I'm to be honest, and I can't postpone it forever.
And if I do in fact rectify those bodywork issues with a cracked outer front panel and thoroughly bodged doors, then how do I go about painting said panels without it conflicting too radically with all that beautiful patina which the rest of the body currently displays??

All advice will be much appreciated...  ;)
