  1. i have a 380mm petri wheel on my car but its a frankenstein and not correct. i retapped a momo hub to make it work but i could give you the inner and outer dimensions of the ring if that would help

Mines a 350mm, but the ring dimensions would be a good start, would the shroud and ring dimensions be the same, i can't imagine them differing.

I gave my wheel to a friend who said it would be no trouble to mock up a metal shroud and the ring. He was going to do it by guestimating, but i said i'd try to track down the dimensions.

    Thanks for the help.

  2. I'm missing a couple of parts for my wheel (the small flat ring and the housing for the hub) and i'm going to get them fabed up.

This is the wheel i'm referring to:

The measurements i need are the ID and OD of the first part.

And the length and diameter at a & b of the second part.

I could guess the dimensions, but i'm pretty fussy and would rather get it right the first time.

Thanks to anyone who can help, i'd really appreciate it.

    Cheers

Trying to zinc plate my nuts and bolts.

    CIMG3501copy.jpg

Pulled the parts cars engine out.

This might have something to do with the white smoke.

    CIMG3507.jpg

no visible fractures, but I'll get it acid tested and all the rest next week.

hard to see, but there are some serious gaps, i'm really surprised the engine ran so well when i drove the car home.

I've spoken to the guys at IE and worked out what i'm doing in terms of engine parts, just another excuse to spend some money.

  4. Whoa!!

    1. I know no body likes them, but, peninsular BM do SOMETIMES have reasonably prices NEW items like head lights or clutches. E.g, new head light assemblies for $200 a side.

    2. I have found Ashley to be the cheapest for OEM stuff nearly every time, even with fancy things like grills. The advantage of using Ashley is there is no shipping costs and insurance is unlimited, meaning a part rocks up bent he'll just order another.

    3. Tom - The site sounds like a good thing, keep it simple and i can't imagine BMW being able to do anything (or have the right) so long as you state that its not affiliated with them.

    4. The Only02 carpet sets are good, i ordered one in S&P, highly recommend them.

    5. Lastly, i picked up my 5-speed and tail shaft for $100, told them (pick-a-part) it was a 4-speed (put a 4-speed knob on it).

    EDIT:

    6. Lastly last, i haven't used this guy but he has an assortment of stuff, in particular rubber seals, he has all different lip profiles, just take the old stuff in (maybe send some) and he'll see if he has a match.

  5. I'm after the following i think:

    6 RECEPTACLE HOUSING 2 03/1971 07/1977 61131350616

Its the connector that the relays plug into for the wires.

I could go to the wreckers but i need four and it would be nice to get fresh clear ones. I need these ones and not generic ones as they slide into the metal tab nicely.

I'm pretty sure its a Bosch part.

    Cheers

  6. A little old i know, but i thought i'd ask here before starting a new thread.

How do you get rid of swirl marks on glass. I followed the above steps which provided a nice deep finish to the glass, but the swirls are still there.

    Any advice?

    Cheers

  7. Got a few things done this week:

    CIMG3451.jpg

Time consuming this stuff, nearly done, used cotton tape in various widths.

    CIMG3437.jpg

Put together the shift assembly for my 5 speed - thinking about painting it but i think ill just give it another good clean.

Got the old ladies help with this, she's pretty handy with a staple gun.

pretty happy with this little job.
