this was my thought about this board, it would only take a min, and i know plenty on people have the wheel.
Good idea with the e9 forum, but surely someone here has the wheel and a spare 2 mins.
Thanks again.

Try a google search for bmw csl petri steering wheels.
......
I found "the coupe guy" or sumthin like that....he sold them..... he could measure one he has............
got it...
coupeguy.com
I'd prefer to ask someone who is on this board rather than harass a random guy on the net, but if i don't get any responses here i might use it as a last resource, thanks for the effort.

you could also place a free " WANTed PARTS " ad
here and maybe bypass the fabrication steps
Tried this with no success a while ago.
It's only going to cost me time, not too difficult a job i imagine - provided i have some dimensions.
-
I'm missing a couple of parts for my wheel (the small flat ring and the housing for the hub) and i'm going to get them fabed up.
This is the wheel i'm referring to:
The measurements i need are the ID and OD of the first part.
And the length and diameter at a & b of the second part.
I could guess the dimensions, but i'm pretty fussy and would rather get it right the first time.
Thanks to anyone who can help, i'd really appreciate it.
Cheers

If thats your problem (which seems unlikely) then just buy new ones, i think they cost me $30 each in Melbourne off the floor at Welch - 94158787.
Is it your tyres or rim??

Trying to zinc plate my nuts and bolts.
Pulled the parts cars engine out.
This might have something to do with the white smoke.
no visible fractures, but I'll get it acid tested and all the rest next week.
hard to see, but there are some serious gaps, i'm really surprised the engine ran so well when i drove the car home.
I've spoken to the guys at IE and worked out what i'm doing in terms of engine parts, just another excuse to spend some money.

Whoa!!
1. I know no body likes them, but, peninsular BM do SOMETIMES have reasonably prices NEW items like head lights or clutches. E.g, new head light assemblies for $200 a side.
2. I have found Ashley to be the cheapest for OEM stuff nearly every time, even with fancy things like grills. The advantage of using Ashley is there is no shipping costs and insurance is unlimited, meaning a part rocks up bent he'll just order another.
3. Tom - The site sounds like a good thing, keep it simple and i can't imagine BMW being able to do anything (or have the right) so long as you state that its not affiliated with them.
4. The Only02 carpet sets are good, i ordered one in S&P, highly recommend them.
5. Lastly, i picked up my 5-speed and tail shaft for $100, told them (pick-a-part) it was a 4-speed (put a 4-speed knob on it).
EDIT:
6. Lastly last, i haven't used this guy but he has an assortment of stuff, in particular rubber seals, he has all different lip profiles, just take the old stuff in (maybe send some) and he'll see if he has a match.

Great colours, car looks sweet.

Thats a great piece of engineering, nice one.
-
you can un-pick the lenses and each section pulls out, there is a small screw and then using a blade to break the hard sealant stuff.
Also, all the round tails (RHD) i have seen look to be the same on both sides, but maybe thats a RHD vs. LHD thing.

yeah thats what i thought, whats the best way to get them looking cleaner? I washed one with citrus cleaner and it came up ok, but won't look great in a new engine bay.
Cheers

I'm after the following i think:
6 RECEPTACLE HOUSING 2 03/1971 07/1977 61131350616
Its the connector that the relays plug into for the wires.
I could go to the wreckers but i need four and it would be nice to get fresh clear ones. I need these ones and not generic ones as they slide into the metal tab nicely.
I'm pretty sure its a Bosch part.
Cheers

A little old i know, but i thought i'd ask here before starting a new thread.
How do you get rid of swirl marks on glass. I followed the above steps which provided a nice deep finish to the glass, but the swirls are still there.
Any advice?
Cheers

Went to the painters today to see my car on the home made rotisserie:
the only spot of rust

Got a few things done this week:
Time consuming this stuff, nearly done, used cotton tape in various widths.
Put together the shift assembly for my 5 speed - thinking about painting it but i think ill just give it another good clean.
Got the old ladies help with this, she's pretty handy with a staple gun.
pretty happy with this little job.

Yeah that looks fine, i can't imagine being pulled over and officer blog decides to inspect your stickers and rim size. It's not like your driving a VL slapped on it guts with 20" chrome rims.
I think you'll be fine, i have a high res, flat scan if you want one - with dimensions.
-
Hey Todd i bought mine from Jaymic and it wasn't that expensive, the only sticker i couldn't get was the tyre pressure one which has "Australia" printed on it. They told me they would try to get it printed up next time they got some done.
Cost me under AU$25 for the lot.

Cheers, but all i needed to do was pull one cable through the holding points more than the other and that seemed to work, it meant that one is straight before the holding point, and the other is bowed due to the extra length.

Insulation doesn't weigh much, and it's not something you'll want to do later with carpet and seats in.
-
got a part number? I need some of those as well, but might not make the Swap Meet though...
-
I'm pretty sure you still need spacers due to difference in diff width, like i mentioned it will visually look right but there is a reason why the cv's are able to slide around an inch or so.
-
whiteline, up front and back, their listed on the site, i think about 260 for both including all the needed bits, the place was near the airport, they even posted the stuff out.

there is a thread a few above this one on the same topic, have a read of that.
Those with a Sports Steering wheel, I need some measurements
in BMW 2002 and other '02

Mines a 350mm, but the ring dimensions would be a good start, would the shroud and ring dimensions be the same, i can't imagine them differing.
I gave my wheel to a friend who said it would be no trouble to mock up a metal shroud and the ring. He was going to do it by guestimating, but i said i'd try to track down the dimensions.
Thanks for the help.
