  1. Mine is AFU. The PO did the right front and took it to a HACK of a body guy that just stick welded and bondoed everything and resprayed it. I had it for about 6 months when the paint started flying off (literally) in fingernail size chips. I really need to get off my ass and write my blog and get some pics out to you guys. I am in the process of taking it all the way down. It was a gift to my step son and as soon as we got it on the road his dad gave him a 4runner to take to school. He is back and making decent cash so we are going to cherry it out. It is going to be a custom job, shaved, welded up, body mods etc.. It has almost no rust and nothing structural. So it should be a good solid platform I think we are going for Hot street/auto X. JB
  2. Can anyone give me a source for the divider at the top of the firewall that separates the engine compartment from the wiper motor fan area.
  3. Justin in norcal. Justin in norcal calling. Have you noticed how many Justin's there are in our sickness. My E-mail is spaarke at yahoo . com Give me a jingle next time you are down so we can burn some oil together. JB P.S. I used to live in the Monte Rio/ Duncans Mills area.
  4. Red squarie @ Agnews and Montague 3:50 pm today. Anyone? Bueler? Anyone?
  5. Help, my '75 has a bad stick welded nose job and I want to make it right. sorry here is the part. Sorry I am more of a noob than I thought. I am looking for the sheet metal that goes ontop of the strut towers and I cannot get Walontechs page to attach.
  6. Al and Esty, I respect both of your opinions and I do not wish to start anything. I am in the market for (2) multi piece carpet kits for '75-'76 models, I REALLY like the rear seat elimination kit for the '75 and the '76 is going to be a stock interior. I need some honest good information on my options in this country. Thanks JB
  7. Has anyone installed a world upholstry set I was wondering about the quality.
  8. 273 cam, 32/36 has to pass smog and I am probably going to give it to my daughter when she turns 16 so I want reliable and easy to trouble shoot. She doesn't live anywhere near me so I will not be able to work on the car once she has it. Hopefully I will poison another youth with the sickness we share though. JB
  9. I am going to go electronic on the '76 and was wanting some opinions.
  10. Hey Justin, This is off topic, but I too am a Justin B (Bell) in Norcal. I was wondering what your last name is and where you are located. JB
  11. Welcome, I am still pretty much of a noob also. I have the Haynes and like it very much I seem to remember the chiltons being for all pre 1980 models or something stupid like that so you have to wade through a lot of useless info to get what you are looking for. Mobile Traditions and some of the vendors in the links section sell the factory repair manual on cd. I have not seen one and feel like it may be a little inconvenient. I guess you could print and binderize the whole thing so that you don't get your laptop all greasy. Anyway I believe it is around $90.00. Best of luck JB
  12. If you forum search "starter motor upgrade you will find the thread that lays out everything. Yes it is the e30 M3 and yes it bolts right up no hinky fabrication required. JB
  13. You should consider going to the newer M3 starter for all of the usual reasons, stronger and lighter it is still a bosch etc.. I have not done the mod myself however I have heard nothing but good from those who have. It also eliminates the bracket that attaches to the block. I hope you have small hands on top of excellent contortional skills, other than that all is pretty straight forward. Good Luck JB
  14. bmw-auto-parts-dealer.com shows about 10 different configurations for that hub and prices all around $130-150. I think they are part of Bell BMW in Texas, as a matter of fact I think you turned me on to their site. Best of Luck JB
  15. Yes it is I roll through in my company truck between 6:30 and 7. This was the first time I have ever seen this car. JB
  16. R/Ring the bearing races can and usually does turn into wrestlemania 6. The best thing to do is take the hubs to a shop with a press and have them do the races, everything else is a simple o2esque procedure. JB The o2 in me comes out. It looks like you have to replace the whole hub on that car in which case yes it is very simple make sure it comes with the seals.
  17. If the bearing dies completely the wheel will "fold" some but probably wil not come off. You should have substantial knocking at all speeds and all directions of travel just before the bearing dies. JB
  18. I do not have a Tii so I don't know Real OEM makes it look like they are the same though, I tried looking up a '74 Tii and the p/n was the same as for my squaries.
  19. Jack it up, grab the wheel at the top and bottom and see how much it moves on the vertical plane (in and out). A bad bearing will give you a very noticeable amount of play and probably even sound kind of like a knock as you rock it back and forth.
  20. Hi ash, No this one was still an auto, it didn't have the badge but it had the auto selector. Nice and straight, no apparent rust, high end sheet and towel seat covers etc.
  21. 1) did it end up passing smog? 2) are all of the smog parts intact?
  22. Part# 16121105870 $30.81 @ bmw-auto-parts-dealer.com The only other alternative I would go with is metal and that is probably more expensive. Good Luck JB
