Also if you want to come out and have a chat this weekend, I'll be racing my 2002 in a couple of hill climbs. Bright Rd, Waiuku http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?q=Bright+Rd,+Waiuku&hl=en&sll=-37.187874,174.896971&sspn=0.012257,0.025127&vpsrc=0&hnear=Bright+Rd,+Waiuku+2682,+Auckland&t=h&z=16 on Saturday.
and Murray Rd , Tuakau http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?q=Murray+Rd,+Pukekawa&hl=en&sll=-37.27258,174.756875&sspn=0.012243,0.025127&vpsrc=0&hnear=Murray+Rd,+Pukekawa+2696,+Auckland&t=h&z=15 on Sunday.

I get many of my parts from Autohauz http://www.autohausaz.com, they generally arrive in about a week, and are generally (not not always) cheaper than local suppliers even after adding on freight.
I've also had some good service from B M warehouse in Hamilton.
Repco carry some parts for E30's & E21's so if you know exactly what parts cross over they can be a source, just don't expect a lot of help from the people behind the counter.
Wheel bearings can be brought from your local bearing supplier.
Depending on what you want shocks can be brought from people like BNT or Autostop.
Trademe is your best source of second hand parts

See this thread from earlier this year
http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,355813/highlight,/
I have a big 5mm thick aluminium sump guard which extends from just behind the air dam back past the cross member and big polyurethane mud flaps. I also repaint the underside of the car fairly often.

We once broke a shock landing after a jump and recently I had a cv joint fail on the start line.
I run an E30 rear subframe, diff, axles so breaking the cv was unexpected, however it was a 2nd hand one I'd picked up cheap and it had been in the rally car for a couple of years.
I use RAV4 shocks (Bilstein) in the rear and had them put in an internal spacer to reduce the extension by 50mm and haven't had any problems still.
Most of our local stages are closed public roads so they may be smoother that what is typical in other places

I run a 2002 as a rally car in New Zealand so I can help with general things but licensing is obviously country specific
-
It's mentioned towards the bottom of this thread
-
I don't believe so, IIRC the E30 one is a funny shape that follows the bottom of the E30 sump

Yes - Inky & Veronica which are obviously an Inka and Verona 2002.
For a while we had an E30 318 which was called Alice as it was parked in the garage next door to the 2002's
(It's current owner still calls it Alice http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?showtopic=23929)
Alice was replaced by an e36 316 compact called Sally.
For those who haven't put it all together yet

Should I do it?
No don't do it - put me in touch with the S14 head seller :-)
I'd dearly like a twin cam head but I'd also like to stay under 2 liters to stay in my class. (everything over 2l is in the same class 4l V8's, 13B rotaries etc)
Here in New Zealand S14 engines don't come on the market often as the E30 M3 was never made in right hand drive

As you can see it wasn't sucessful in my case
Hence the revision of a more effective urethane as shown above. If your willing to give IE another try let me know (I'm sure you're skeptical, thus the IF.).
Thank you for the offer - I've sent an email

It's the stock bumper with the overriders (at least that's what I think they're called removed) and the ends have been shortened to clear the flares. I just cut them, reshaped them with a hammer, welded up the splits and then had them re chromed. From memory it was about $80.
I think we got the same bumpers as Europe

The car is nice to rally, it basically goes where you point it and doesn't throw you any surprises.
Set up is M10 with 318 fuel injection / 325 throttle body & Link ECU 304° Cam.
I was aiming for 150 hp when I built the engine but ended up more like 115 - I'm not sure why and I plan to take the car to a different dyno as I wasn't completely happy with the job the first guy did.
Gear box is Ford Type 9 ( I'm still planning on getting a close ratio kit for it but my funding request has yet to be approved :-) Diff is E30 LSD 4.55 ratio.
Front Brakes are Volvo 4 pot, Rear brakes are E30 disc's & calipers.
Front springs are 250 lb/in, Rear are also 250 lb/in but because of the E30 trailing arm geometry it's more like 176 lb/in at the wheel.
It's set up too soft for tarmac but it feels about right on gravel.

Normally for rallysprints we write our own notes, however for this event you also have the option of using supplied notes. The advantage of using the supplied notes is they're the same as what would be available for a rally so you get to practise.
The notes are automatically generated by a Swedish system called Jemba
-
My understanding is that methanol can increase power because it provides charge cooling and therefore increases volumetric efficiency

The event was a rallysprint, basically one rally stage that we get four runs on.
Ponganui road road is a gravel public road that is closed for the day, it's about an hour and a half drive south of Auckland.
If you want to see how it should be done, check out Logan's run in a Honda (S2000) powered Corolla
and finally a photo (it's from a different event)

That was great. I really started to follow rally in 97 witch was the dawn of wrc.
John
I was hooked in the early 80's watching Michelle Mouton in a group B Audi doing the Port Waikato Stage of the Rally of New Zealand.

Sorry no experience with Walloth and Nesch or Jaymic(UK).
Never had any issues with NZ customs, keep your order under NZ$500 and they don't bother to collect the GST (same as if you brought it back with you on a flight). The best policy is to make sure that all the decleared values are correct and don't try and pull anything cute - that will probably go pear shaped.
