The hood on that looks like a Camero... Regardless, very cool looking.
I was thinking late 60s firebird...but yes beautiful.

Yes that was one of the cars that inspired me!!! Amazing that the 122 wagon has the same width and wheelbase as an e30 convertible. So that look is what im after. Alit of people weld the rear doors and convert them to 3 doors. Cool look but not sure I wanna go there. The utility of a 5 door is kinda what i want in a vintage restomod package. I have a place for now until i bring it down south in a month or so. Now the question is, ship it or drive it???

If i recall he built it for his daughter and she wanted a new 3 series instead. Seen it in person. Very well done.

Not a borgward or a 912. 912s they made until 76 if i recall correctly.

Zinz i have no idea what a Grifo is!! So no.
not a Cortina Sweet car.
not a T34. Again. Sweet car.

Not a citreon. Great guess. Not a triumph. This particular model of car was made up until 1970. Mine is a 1965.

Im doing my console again right now. I was satisfied with my first version, but I am looking to do something even nicer this go around....Here is my original...I have a full writeup on my website. I made the face out of plywood. Bought some vinyl from Joann's Fabrics and recovered the sides. Made it so all screws were on the inside for a clean look.
Here are the beginnings of my second version....I will use plywood or plastic for the radio and cubby area. Then paint it all, then recover the sides. You can get new center sections with or without gauge and radio cutouts from Koogleworks.

Here is a video I made for another guy on the board a long time ago, it addresses a different issue but shows how to access the odometer drive gear that most likely needs replacing on your speedo.
Because of this video, I went back into my speedo...removed and reseated the odometer drive gear. The gear was in good shape when I removed it but I bet it wasn't seated properly. Put it all back together and BAM...odometer, trip odometer and everything is working better than before! The only casualty was the speedo needle snapped when it got cast on something...a dab of gorilla glue and all is well. I do have 2 spare needles I may put on if the glue doesnt hold up. Thanks again! Thats why this place is so awesome!!

+1 Excellent video!!

I would bet your handling improvement is mostly due to the swat bars. I had Stage II strings and Bilstein shocks and it was an improvement over stock, but the BIG improvement was when I did the Ireland Sway Bars. That was a bigger improvement. Congrats. Car looks good. Once it settles...I would maybe do 1/4 coil more off the front.

I spoke too soon. The trip odometer only worked for 3 miles and then it stopped. Now my trip odometer and the regular odometer no longer work. Looks like my speedo is going to go to North Hollywood speedometer for rebuild.
-
Well this one was easy. The trick was to push the old shaft out with the new shaft so the gears never pop out of place. If the odometer isn't working thats another set of gears. This one was the trip odometer.

OK....my gauge cluster is working pretty well EXCEPT for the trip odometer. It works, but you cant reset it. When you turn the rest knob it just spins freely. Opened it up and the metal gear that is connected to the trip odometer is stripped. Now I have a parts odometer and I can get that get gear and shaft that connects it to the trip odometer from that odometer. The question is...when I pull that shaft out will the actual trip odometer pop out or will there be an issues with getting the old gear out and the new gear in? Here is a pic with the shaft and gear circled. Anyone do this before? I'd hate to pull the old gear and it all falls apart and I cant get the new gear in.

Opening scene in episode 1, one of the main characters drives up in a Fjord 2002. Looks like a 72, even though the series is supposed to be in the 60s...Still cool. Anyones car here? In a later episode it shows the interior with e21 Recaro in it...

I have 12" blades I think as I tried to find smaller and smaller blades and they still dont fit the curve, I dont worry about it much...doesnt rain alot in SoCal. Just wondering...
-
And the larger bolsters on the seat back?
-
I have E21 Recaro seats. In my old 02 I had in the 90s, I bought a brand new set of Recaro LSC seats with the larger side and leg bolsters. Loved those seats. So I was wondering, Can I get the larger bolsters and put them on the e21 seats? Anyone ever do that?

I keep looking at my windshield wiper arms and my passenger side wiper arm seems very long and the wiper blade extends. I keep thinking if that arm was shorter, it would be perfect. Are there different wiper arm lengths available?
-
Haha. True. Just getting grumpy in my old age.
And Toby I know those slots and holes have absolutely zero benefit on my car I just liked the way they looked lol. Are u vouching for those rockauto rotors?

I have the e21/Volvo brake upgrade on my car. I did the upgrade 8 years ago and I planned on refreshing the brakes soon. Pulled up my 02 expense spreadsheet and Drilled/Slotted vented e21 rotors cost me $132 a pair. Now...$120 each?? Do I just need to bite the bullet or can I find them more reasonably priced somewhere. Not gonna buy those cheap ebay rotors....

Pass. Seats are safety items. Not just eye candy...unless it sits in a garage and is never driven. How do you think those $300 seats will react in an accident? Keep the Recaro seats. They have lasted how long and just need a recover?
