  1. Doable with a tiny camper!?

I'm thinking ahead to The Vintage BABY...

It's absolutely doable. Otis has a custom receiver hitch - come check it out at Scott's party. I like the receiver hitch better than the factory hitch, because you can bang your shins on the factory hitch. And that hurts.

My receiver hitch has lots of capacity. In fact, here's what I'll be rolling, at the Vintage.

  2. Where do you even find this stuff????

Most of the pictures are from Otisland, two years ago. Not all, but most. You can tell the Otisland pictures because they are outside. The hot dog pictures, for example, were taken from the all-you-can-eat weinerfest that we had near the trailer rotisserie. The inside pictures, that's when we moved the rolling Otisland party down the highway and back to Winston Salem, to our favorite outside sports bar on the West End. The first picture with the caption - well, that was a Google find.

Sorry you missed Otisland, Festmeister. We had a VIP ticket waiting at will call (you may recall that the VIP area was behind the velvet ropes, behind the tree). I'm also sorry that you would now characterize this sort of smoochy-smoochy, weiner-ingesting activity as, "the dark side." That says something - I'm not sure what, but it does say something. To me, however, such stuff just shows another day in Otisland. And if this is dark - I don't ever want to be light.

Now - bring on Das Spaten Girls - Grill baby, Grill!!!

  3. I blame Otis.

Scott and I did have a discussion, yes. Last month. Over dinner and apres-dinner drinks. And a plan was hatched ...

Truth be told, mostly we discussed plans for the Food Tent. Oh, and some film-production stuff. The two topics are related, but it's a long, long story.

  4. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with cars. But, it has EVERYTHING to do with our cars' owners. Most of us either are approaching or have cruised past the 50-mile marker. Which means, it's time to check the plumbing. Remember, it's not that bad ...

  5. I vote we ban Lederhosen 4.jpg from the FAQ.

    Ben

    I second the motion.

    John

Why would we ban a picture of Young Scott Sturdy, in all of his youthful glory? In his day, he cut quite the striking figure - check out those six-pack abs.

Scott, only three replies so far - so very sorry. I tried; perhaps things will pick up, or perhaps folks are just waiting until closer to the Big Show. But in the meantime, here are some more of your favorite things. Anything for you, my friend.

  6. Easy fix.

    First, follow the Otis blog.

    http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,352845/highlight,otis+blog/

Second, decide that you don't want to do all the Otis mods, because it's overkill.

Third, call Rush Power Systems and tell him what you want, and he'll make it for you, and it'll drop right in. Like I said, easy fix.

A couple of other FAQers will chime in here, because they've used Rush Power Systems, too. Tell RPS that Otis sent you.

  7. Thanks again, 02Les! This sticker stuff is cool! I think what Ima gonna do is study your pictures, and Ben's car, and then enlist the assistance of Mr. Bill Williams to help me place the stickers. Also, I have a buddy who makes spot-on replica stickers. So when nobody's looking, I'm going to add a couple more stickers - one of them will say "Big Huge Relay Rack" in German, and the other will say "Actung - Save the Kitties," also in all-German. And maybe some other sticker phrases as well. For example, my friend made a Jesse Jane sticker to go in my back window - good stuff. I have to put in a "Powered by BLUNT" sticker, and a "I (heart) Scott Sturdy" bumper sticker ... lots to do, lots to do.

  8. Thanks, 02Les. I did try the search function before posting this up, but didn't find the ultimate/definitive sticker post. I also leafed through my fix-it manual and similarly did not find all of the answers. A definitive thread post would be great.

I guess I should have provided a list of the stickers that Ben provided; here it goes, in no particular order:

    (1) Air Pressure of Tires (smaller sticker)

    (2) Air Pressure of Tires (larger sticker)

    (3) Cooling System Contains Long-Life Anti-Freeze Coolant

    (4) AuBenlackerierung-BMW colorado

    (5) Bremsgerat T51 3.6152-0701.4 Alfred Teves GMBH Frankfurt/M.

    (6) Fuses (12)

    (7) Achtung! (Attention! For safety and warranty) (big orange "genuine parts" sticker)

    (8) Automotive air conditioner (red "max-charge" sticker)

    (9) "Before charging the battery always disconnect the battery ground cable"

    (10) Engine Oil Services (large black sticker)

Am I missing anything? I hope not.

02Scott76 - thanks for the suggestion. Now that you mention it, OTIS's VIN Plate does look a bit worse for wear. Of course, I'm going to have to change it to an "Orange TI Special (OTIS) Version" VIN Plate, if BLUNT will do it.

  9. I spent an afternoon last Thursday at La Jolla Independent, where Ben helped me pick out a whole new set of stickers for Otis. Thanks, Ben - La Jolla Independent is always helpful, and always fun to visit.

Ben also popped the hood on an 02 so that I could snap some pictures of the proper place to stick the stickers. According to Ben, all of these locations are proper for a '71, except for the fuse sticker, which should go on the underside of the hood.

And so, here are the photos that I snapped. Hope they are helpful. Before we stick, however, if someone wants to chime in with an alternative view on placement, now's the time.

  10. We are doing a hot tub, but not for this car. The '53 Dodge Pickup will use a Mullins-replica fiberglass trailer body and we'll glass in a hot tub insert, with a drain (too hard to tow the water - too much weight and slosh). We might put two Mullins bodies together and extend the frame, with double axles. We haven't decided yet (although I do have the plumbing parts and pump system all laid out).

But not here. The Otis trailer only gets a stereo and a rear hitch-mount barbecue.
