  1. Well, from all accounts it can`t work.BUT i have a mate that runs it in his old bomb cars and swears it has kept them running much longer than they should/would have.Because of his total faith in it,i decided to try it in my`98 diesel rodeo. If you`ve ever heard one of these running, especially when cold, you`ll know how much noise the engine makes.Sounds like there`s no oil in it at all,let alone no oil pressure. So i decided to try some of this `snake oil` to see what happens.Only put in 1/2 a bottle.Well bugger me if the engine is HEAPS quieter.I thought "rubbish, this can`t work.It would all be caught in the oil filter". So next oil change i didn`t bother putting any more in.Sure enough, back to the "bucket of bolts" sounds again.I still didn`t believe it can work,so i left it out from then on.

Then last oil change i found the other 1/2 bottle and thought "what the hell" and put it in.Sure enough the noisy engine is quiet again. The car has done 275,000K`s and never had a spanner on it.

I still don`t know how it doesn`t all end up in the filter within the 1st 5 minutes but it seems to make the engine smoother and quieter.

  2. Sorry that i didn`t make myself clear enough as most of you missed my point.Should have included a picture 1st time so here is one now.

I think 2 guibo`s would work OK.And yes i will definately have to shorten my drive shaft.

When i get the E21 stripped i will try the 4 speed flange on the 5 speed and let everyone know if it fits or not.

The later (post 69 or so) NK sedans had the guibo at the gearbox end, opposite to mine.

I wonder why BMW decided to swap the guibo onto the opposite end of the tailshaft after a while ???

  3. G`day everyone,i have an E21 5 speed i bought to put into my `67 NK sedan.Trouble is the 5 speed has the guibo on the back of the transmission, while the NK car has the guibo on the diff. Will the output flange off the old 232 4 speed fit on the back of the 5 speed ? Or can i buy a special part from somewhere or could i run with a guibo on both ends of the tailshaft ?

    Any ideas would be great,thanks,Mal.

  4. The 1st time you started up the engine after the rebuild, did you do anything to make sure the engine had oil pressure BEFORE it actually started up.I once saw an engine seize its bearings just winding it over on the starter trying to get oil pressure, after a rebuild.

Just wondering if some damage could have been done back then.

A good trick is to pack the oil pump with `vaseline` or `petroleum jelly`.The pump will prime straight away and the `vaseline` will melt away once the engine is warm.I like to wind the engine on the starter with plugs out till oil pressure is up.Then start.

  5. G`day everybody,i have just bought a 1977 E21 320i parts car.The engine has been recently done up apparently and seems to run well. Can anyone tell me what the stock specs of this engine would be ? Compression, valve sizes, ect.

Planning on putting twin side drafts on it.Could i expect the same type of power output as a stock Tii ??

    Thanks,Mal.
