  1. Had Grundy for a while but have since left and here's why... After 5+ years, I realized my relatively nice '73 tii was undervalued, based on ebay sales, auction numbers, private sales I know of, etc. Requested a $2,500 increase in the agreed upon value, sending them the data I had collected. They refused to up the agreed-upon value unless I had a formal appraisal done, at my expense. So I called Hagerty. Told them what I thought the tii and my '02 Turbo were worth. They agreed, and I made the switch. Since then I have increased the value of both cars with just a phone call. Hagerty is inexpensive, easy to deal with, and they have relatively few rules. Someone in an earlier post said it correctly: they're car people like us and they get it. For my 02 cents, go with Hagerty.

  2. Hi All!

Leaving for Germany next Saturday. Although Mobile Traditions is not open to the "Public," I managed to beg, plead and wheedle my way in. They're allowing me to tag along with a tour of VIPs. But I guess they don't really want me all that much because, while they gave me a day and time, they didn't tell me where the Mobile Traditions building is, and I don't think it's part of the World Headquarters complex. Does anyone know where they are located (i.e. have a street address)? As a reward, I'll post photos of their private collection of vehicles as soon as I get back.

Any help would be appreciated. I certainly don't want to miss this opportunity.

  3. Hi All!

Went to the vintage races at Lime Rock today. In the BMW tent in the pits was a Batwing CSL, an M1 Procar and the Inka tii Mobile Traditions built last winter. The tii was really sweet: flawless paint, pristine interior, totally clean engine compartment. Overall, it was awesome. (Note: one small flaw was some waviness on the driver's door above the beltline. Oh well, I guess nothing's perfect, but this was pretty close)

Interestingly, it had a 13-digit VIN and the stamping on the fender was all letters (XYZABC, or something like that). I guess because it's really a new car they couldn't give it a retro 7-digit VIN.

The gnomes in Bavaria can build me a tii whenever they're ready to do it again.
