Weber 38/38 Manual Choke Cable Routing

I just installed a Weber 38/38 carb in my stock 2002. It runs strong thanks to all the tuning advice in the Forum! When I went to run the manual choke cable, i noted that the choke lever is mounted to allow the cable to exit from the front of the carb. I've never seen this. Can it be changed or do I run the cable out the front and loop it back towards the firewall.

I just bought my '76 and the choke was like that. I assumed it was wrong so I turned it around. Works fine now in any case.

so you were able to turn the linkage around to pull from the rear of the carb?

Is it possible to reverse  the choke linkage? I'm having the same issues.
