valve cover gasket

do i need to use gasket goo when replacing the v.c. gasket?

with the proper gasket and providing your cover isn't boogered, no...i've never used goop and never leaked

it's the kinda rubber-ish feeling gasket. i didn't think so but wanted to double

check. it seems awlfully dark and kinda burnt in there. what about cleaning inside the head? like any kinda spray stuff or just leave it be?

the dark/burnt is baked on oil...if it was mine, i'd be concerned about any cleaning solvents running into the cylinders....

as long as the lip of the head and valve cover are good/clean, your "good" gasket shouldn't leak
