73 tii fuel pump. I think mine died. Need suggestions!!

Well, I drove the tii to dinner last night and when I came back out it wouldn't start. Right away I noticed the hum of the fuel pump wasn't there. I checked the fuse and it's fine. Are there any other electrical things I should check before pulling the fuel pump and shelling out big $$ for a new pump?? If so please explain what to check and also how to run any tests. (I'm assuming there is a fuel pump relay...but, I don't know where it is or how to test it).

Having known how much these things cost...I've always feared this day. Anyone know a cheaper alternative or where to get one for less than $400??

Mesa sells rebuilt pumps for about $150 i believe

use a new one , it's new and cheaper. I carry one as a spare.

I had this problem a couple years ago. I removed my pump and took it apart and cleaned it out. The years of gook build up and restrict flow and varnish from the fuel also builds up restriction the impellar. Sometimes its as simple as the electrical connection at the pump. It is under that car and subject to alot of grime and water. They are pretty bullet proof items and seldom fail. If you do need one try as the other person said, Mesa Performance. Jim usually stocks them and has good prices.
