On the 373 replacement box, are all the back side connector spades present and ganged per the OE box?

Yes, the additional spades are present on the 373 box and the fuses are ganged correctly. We have a dropdown to pick which you have on the product page, and details on how to tell which you have if you're unsure.

Good explanation! There will always be the people who are never happy and never will be no matter what the price. I get steamed when someone thinks that just because they are part of the 02 fellowship that a business should give them a break. I remember when I had my Bosch Authorized Service Centers and a BMWCCA member would bring in a 02 for work and I had the nerve to charge for labor and not sell the part at cost? The guy did not have to pay the hundred thousand dollars (in 1988 dollars) for specialized tools or fly my technicians to Germany to get the latest training. You guys at Holy Grail have a smart business model. Build a better mouse trap or fuse box and people will come. Keep up the good work and look for more products.

Thanks for the response OP.

I don't feel entitled to any sort of a lesser price, I didn't even feel entitled to a response if you read my original comment. Rather just a consumer trying to understand an over 200% price increase in a unit that at seems less complex than a product already offered. I understand now thanks to OP that there were complications in the design and the manufacture of said product, perhaps time may improve at least one of those cost drivers.

Do I still feel that it is too expensive? Personally yes, but only time and the community will give HGL the answer to that.

Like I said we are happy customers of HGL already and as such want to see the company succeed and appreciate the open communication they provide to existing and future customers.

I do have a quetion. Will the breaker resetable blade fuses fit? I think they are taller and cna not clearly see with my fuse box if they will fit? Thanks.

Ed

I looked them up and it seems like they come in a couple different sizes - if the ones you're looking at are much taller than regular fuses it's unlikely to work.  If you want to use them we can discuss making a hoop to increase the cover height

That is an interesting idea. I like the resetable feature as when trouble shooting you can go through a dozen fuses in minutes checking things. The higher hoop would do the trick. I was all set to use the True Mods 10 Way Waterproof Fuse Box but only 10 circuits. Some can be combined but your solution is far more elegant and will look closer to stock. Any idea how much more? I love that you guys are willing to customize for a special need, great work.

Email the support account and we can discuss, design depends somewhat on which resettable fuses you want to use. Not going to murder you on price.

Is payment collected upon shipment or upon order?

Payment is collected upon order - I'll update this thread when I have a better idea when initial shipments will be.

I'll have to wait then until the end of March and re-evaluate my risk.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

Great product idea and I am super interested -- do you have a better resolution on ship date now that we are close to Q2?

Thanks for doing this!

Thanks for the interest!

I have test data on both units, one or two wrinkles to smooth out but the test cars have been running on the new boxes reliably. I'd estimate early May at this point.

Yeah things are coming along quite well. I have most of the parts in stock, need to finalize the design of the plastic frame but should finish that today or tomorrow. Assuming that goes fine I'll have all the parts and can start shipping in two weeks

Got the plastic design finalized! Now it's a bit of waiting, plastic for the E9 units took about 10 days to show up for a similar size order. I should be shipping somewhere in the 20th-25th date range - very excited to get these out to everybody!

Due to a combination of unexpected levels of interest in our new products and manufacturing optimizations, we are happy to be able to reduce some prices - 2002 blade fuse boxes are now selling for $319! The 15% preorder discount still applies, units ordered now will ship by the end of the month. Also we're running a sale this weekend to celebrate Vintage, use code Vintage2024 for additional 10% off your order.
