Welcome to the 16th Annual SoCal Vintage BMW Meet, which will take place on Saturday, November 4th, 2023!  The Meet will run from 8 AM - 4 PM.

THIS YEAR WE ARE CELEBRATING THE e23 SEVEN SERIES!

ALL E23'S ENTER FOR FREE THIS YEAR!

As always, the Meet is at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, the premier outdoor venue for car events in the LA area. Those of you that participated with us in past years already know how great a location this is!

MAKE A WEEKEND OF IT!

The SoCal Vintage BMW Meet is always the first Saturday in November, so it will be the same weekend as the France and Italy car show which is always the first SUNDAY in the same location - A tremendous European car weekend!

The show is open to all Vintage BMWs from 1980's production start dates and back, including all cars to the end of those models' production runs (E36, E34, E32, E31, E30, E28, E26, E24, E23, E21, E20, E12, E9, E6, E3, 2002, Neu Klasse, 700, Isetta and all going back) which makes the SoCal Vintage BMW Meet the largest independent Vintage BMW Meet in North America. BMW Motorrad are also welcome.

The SoCal Vintage BMW Meet initially encompassed the entire SoCal Vintage BMW community from the Central Coast to San Diego; however, each year, we have many drivers caravan down from the SF Bay Area, San Jose, Sacramento, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, Utah and even as far as Florida!

The SoCal Vintage BMW Meet has had increasing attendance year after year.  Our last event has over 600 cars.  We expect this year's show to be no exception, with a focus on Motorsports cars of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, as well as a diverse contingency of E36s in their many forms.  (Coupes, sedans, convertibles, hatchbacks, roadsters, and the clown shoe).

Each year, we give out Driver's Choice Awards for favorite cars voted on by the meet participants, which is fun every year.

This will again be an excellent opportunity to be out with our great Vintage BMW community, seeing old friends and making new ones!

Make your plans now so you don't miss the largest independent Meet for the Vintage BMW Community in North America, set in the backdrop of beautiful Woodley Park!

Please register early so that we can make sure that we have enough goody bags, giveaways and T-shirts!

We look forward to seeing you!

The SoCal Vintage BMW team

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
