Mechanical fuel pump question

Fuel pump stopped working on my 1976.  I ordered a new one last week. USPS decided to send it back to the sender. While I wait for the new pump, I decided to take the old pump apart and see what went wrong.  There were 4 pieces loose in the pump. It seems like an easy fix if I can figure out the order to put the parts back in.  Anyone have an idea of the order? Thanks for the help

First of all, it that the suction valve or discharge valve?  With the cover upside down in the pic, can't tell.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

Ok so with the logic that when the mechanism pulls the diaphragm towards the engine, the discharge valve disc is held against its seat and the suction valve disc is pulled away from its seat.

Seems logical then that the seat would go in first then the disc,  then the spring and finally what ever holds the spring in place.

Then when the diaphragm is pushed towards the pump cavity, the suction valve closes and held by the spring and the discharge valve opens against its spring.

Hope this helps because instead of sweeping floors, I always wanted to take a fuel pump apart.
