why are some grilles all black, some blk/chrome and some all

does it have to do with the year. i bought a 1972 last week with black/chrome and i bought a 1973 today with all black.

yeah really-- thats what I was trying to ask too a while back. My 69 has all black, while others I've seen have chrome, while the 71 1600 has chrome (errr.. dingy silver now)-- what gives?

The all chrome ones are for the 1600's

The all black ones are plastic and for 1974-

the black/chrome ones are all others (2002's up thru 1973).

If your 1973 has all black ones and they are metal, they the prior owner painted them black. If they are plastic, then your nose has been replaced with one from a 1974+ car.

had the smaller brakes and no front/rear sway bar like the 1600's.
