New weather seals . . .

Anyone got a good/easy way to get that tacky white waxy mold release coating crap off of new rubber weather seals (doors, windows, etc.)? I'm finally putting the '02 back together. I have bought all new seals but haven't found an easy way to get that stuff off of the new rubber. Any suggestions?

WD-40 WILL KEEP ANY ADHESIVE FROM STICKING TO THE

SEALS . TRY BRAKE CLEANER , IT WILL EVAPORATE COMPLETELY AND LEAVE NO RESIDUE .

but otherwise LEAVE THAT WHITE STUFF ON THERE!! its good for the rubber, and will come off on its own in own good damn time!! remember its GOOD!!! ;)

next time you buy a set of those seals they will probably cost 3x as much...

I spoke to a (another) knowledgable car guy yesterday and he said the exact same thing you did about acetone and leaving that stuff on new seals, etc. He did mention that 100% silicone lubricant is a very good cleaner & reconditioner for older rubber gaskets. I have actually tried that and it seems to work.
