windshield saga--a happy ending

After local dealer insisted on providing a 318 windshild gasket (to replace non-fitting aftermarket gasket the shop first tried) by ignoring the "1973 2002" information and concentrating on the VIN, I told the glass guy to call Bimmer Parts. He ordered the gasket about 2:30pm Friday and it was in his shop by 9:30am Sat morning -- eastern PA to SW Ohio. Car was ready by noon and the gasket Bimmer Parts provided fit perfectly.

Our local Guardian Glass shop did a really nice job--coulda just given up after the first bad gasket, but the shop owner actually listened to me, a "civilian amateur" when I made suggestions. Quality work (and ears) still exist!

Next job: repair the dent in the front valence panel from a piece of tire rubber flipped up by a truck on the way to Ofest.

Cheers

Mike
