converting to daytime running lights

A friend just imported a e36 m3 into Canada. Canadian law requires cars to conform to Canadian safety standards. Daytime running lights are manditory.

Any ideas on how to do this? Any sites. A brief search came up empty.

I think both Mendelson's Electronics in Dayton, Oh (big web site) and JC Whitney sell the little conversion kit w/wires, relay. etc. to run daylight running lights. I would think this would be a common item at Canadian auto parts stores, but don't know. I've seen 1 kit for full brightness and another for 80%?? brightness.

I haven't seen these kits, but the description gives me the idea they are generic kits for older, non-electronic cars. I doubt they would work properly on an E36.

ummm, I hadn't considered that (electronics might interfere). I'm curious if the programmable answer someone else gave is accurate.
