I've got a Blaupunkt BMW factory cassete deck in

my car but cannot get the radio code to work. I tried

it many times before I confirmed the code # and

wonder if it is programmed to deny codes if you try

it too many times. Is there any way to reset the

radio? So far I've pulled the fuse. I also left the

ignition on for over an hour but the radio still will

not accept my code #.

disconnect the battery again and try the code again. Are you sure your code is correct, never hurts to double check with the dealer or your old records.

Ratt,

The factory BMW Blaupunkt cassette decks came

with a radio code as an anti theft measure. Each

time you disconnect the battery you have to retype

the code.

Keefer I've checked the code 5 times. The problem

may be that I typed the incorrect code too many

times before I had the correct code. I'm concerned

that I've triggered some kind of lock down on the

radio. What key position should I have the key

while leaving the radio on for 90 mins. I don't want

to burn out my points.

Mike,

You may be on to something. My son's 97 Jetta has a Blaupunkt with security code and the instruction book cautions not to enter the code incorrectly, I think, more than three times. Go to the BlaupunktUSA.com web page. I believe they have a tech assistance toll free.

Yes the radio is programmed to only allow 3 tries.

After 3 tries you need to have the car someplace with the key in accessory and the radio on for at least an hour...hour and a half works better.

When you start to input your code...if it beeps at you before you input all the numbers, stop and start at the beggining. You get three tries and then have to do the batt thing again.

If it won't take the code after several tries and you have confirmed the code is correct through BMW...the radio is defective
