My local shops have it for $6-7 a quart.

I swear by Redline for the trans and diff. You don't change this lube that often, use the good stuff.

There are 2 75/90 lubes. One for limited slip, the other regular. I can never remember which one to use(Ns or not-NS), I just read the label. Also, a lot of racers use a mix of the two gear lubes to get the right combo for thier limited slip.

have leaks they can become worse because of the thinner oil. If you have a quiet transmission/differntial that doesn't leak you can't beat Redline for quality, but if you have noise it will be noisier and if it leaks it will be running freely out the holes. 1983 533i cars with manual gearboxes are really noisey courtesy of the factory (there's even a service bulletin about the noise being normal and only an owner comfort issue) and I put Redline in and after an hour I dumped it back out and put in normal gear oil in both the trans and the diff. Way too loud with thin oil.

Never heard that about the 83 533i, and I've owned one for the last 8 years. The trans is a little noisy with Redline, but never enough that it bothered me, and that's with 227k miles on it. You wouldn't happen to have a copy of that TSB that you could forward to me, would you?

if you have open diff, lots of shops will just recommend a heavy hear oil- they dont care. But for LSD gotta have Red Line 75-90. Has good heat resistance. Should be good for 10k, at least, for normal driving. If tracking, well.... change fluids often.
