Hello everyone.

I'm just starting to fix/restore a '71 2002.

I have some bodywork questions.

1. Does the POR15 paint system work for the underneath of the car as far as rust proofing and providing protection?

2. Here is what my plan for the colored part of the body, sand off all paint, use a rust converter on the bare metal to prevent any micro rust while I address any welding, spray with epoxy primer, then paint.

3. Do any of you know of a good website that will address these question?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

some very good info available here but be warned, most of those guys are close minded and don't bend....you'll learn a lot if you'll just spend time reading the old threads

and

probably the keenest, most open minded, not huyng up on name brand recognition and one of the best group of painters is at

i spent a couple of years reading paint & auto body forums before finally mustering up the nerve to do mine myself...after taking several deep breaths, it was almost to easy...painting a car is the easy part...prepping it for paint is what makes or breaks it

unless you're into polo and calvin kline labels, i'd forgo the POR, especially when rust-o-leum will work just as well and be as effective for a fraction of the cost and available from any corner hardware store or walmart...but this is JMO, but its based on practical experience

good luck & have fun
