Bob must be a car restorer extraordinaire. I just did an internet transaction with him, where I purchased front sway bar mounts from him off one of his parts-car 02s. He had some stuff come up and the shipment got delayed. He felt bad about that so he cleaned up the hardware by media blasting them and then painting them with Eastwood's "chasis black". Until I got that explanation from him, I thought he had mistakenly sent me brand new parts. You'd never guess these things came off an old parts car! You may not see that every day, but if anyone has a need to do a transaction with BobinOKC, I give him a full vote of confidence and more. He has just earned 02 hero status as far as I am concerned!

Thanks, Bob!

I've been all over OKC and seen no 02's. Only yard I know of up there is I35 Imports in Moore, and I've picked over their 02's several times. They rarely have anything new. How's the project coming along Rod?

Also, I-35 has quite a few 02' although most have been picked over or are sinking into the ground :-). I did recently snag a good hood and an entire roof/sunroof (which I don't need now) along with a couple other goodies but, I was lucky to have caught a car just as it came in.

I yanked a grill and some other parts from it a few months back. The roof had been sawed off. Yes, their cars are going to disappear in the mud.

Yup, that was the one... It's roof now sits on my back patio, along with my collection of gas tanks, noses, extra wheels, etc.. etc... My neighbors must hate me! :-)

The project is coming slow...sort of took the whole winter off. We might get it running soon though. Biggest issue might be that the PO has yet to produce a title and it has been a year. So what if it's still on jack stands? He never titled it when he bought it. He can't find the title from the last owner, whom he got it from more than 10 years ago. He has applied for a mechanic's lean and I don't know why that is taking so long. ugh!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
