well. I don't know about original ones but I know my new ones pictured below are definitely not the same top and bottom.

on the back of them you'll see one side that has a bigger/steeper angle. The one with the longer/bigger/steeper angle goes on top of the bumper brackets.....

frames are offset. I read where, and saw a picture the other day, and the 02er had mentioned he put them on upside down. Thanks

bumper bracket should face outward, not inward (i.e. an outie, not an innie, as shown). And yes, there are lefts and rights. The above info is for chrome bumper cars...
