There was no roof for the trans in the car. It was too big. We would have had to cut out the trans tunnel. No amount of beating would have made it big enough.

Maybe you guys were working on an Isetta.

If I had known it could've been done, I wouldn't have paid $400 for the 323 gearbox that was in my car. The lift we use is occupied at this moment or I'd go take some pics. Anyone interested should come see & drive it in person.

The motor was set an inch above the subframe and the mounts were welded up. the trans mount was made from 2 320i trans mounts. There is no interference between the center link and trans as the motor was set back also. There's also room for a common strut bar up top.

I'm curious, how was the 325i transmission able to fit without cutting the tunnel or any other fabrication work? I've been reading that the tunnel needs to be cut/pounded to fit other transmissions. Thanks.
