  1. You guys are a hoot. I went with a nickel. Sealed it up temporarily. The nickel should hold until I find a cap.
  2. Does anybody know the thread pitch and diameter of Item #2 Cap Nut? I am trying to plug the smog port off of the exhaust manifold.
  3. Thanks again guys. I have to refurbish the warm up regulator with the kit from 2002faq and that should be it for the Tii. Then on to body work and paint.
  4. Pictures and video of the Tii running somethly with no oil leaks. IMG_6026.mov
  5. All is well thanks for all of the suggestions. I used a honing stone to resurface the oil filter housing face and put on a new oil filter with oil on the gasket and no more leaks. I never would have thought that surface had to be that perfect. We learn something new everyday. thanks again.
  6. @bergie33the surface is smooth with no residue from the previous filters. Regarding your comment on the pressure not being high enough to blow oil out, now I'm really stumped as to what the problem is. There isnt a large supply of Tii oil filter housings on the market.
  7. @TobyBthe oil filter housing face is smooth no inclusions or debris. Same for the 3rd filter I’ve tried. We see oil blowing around the oil pan seal and it just below the oil filter and are thinking the oil just happens to be blowing into the oil filter making it look as though it’s leaking there. So we are just going to replace the gasket on the oil pan for now and test it again.
  8. @Tommyagreed. The leak starts quickly after startup. Around 20 seconds after it’s started. Very confusing.
  9. @OldRollerI picked up an oil pressure gauge and I’m running at a low pressure at idle approximately 850rpm of 60psi at 3000rpm 80psi. If it isn’t the pressure relief valve, I guess it is an oil filter housing issue. I added a video to show the drips IMG_3954.mov
  10. @oldroller which gauge should I get?
  11. @Tommylooks like a busy day for me. I have a spare oil pump from a 1976 non Tii engine, do you know if they are the same part number? Real OEM isnt clear on any differences between a Tii oil pump and standard oil pump.
  12. @Tommythere was a rough edge on the top of the filter housing. I sanded that smooth with 800 grit paper thinking that was the problem. No joy after that. Pressure relief valve is what I’m thinking. Does the engine really need to be pulled to remove the oil pan?
  13. After all the excitement of getting the 1974 Tii to start, it is leaking oil at the filter housing/oil filter gasket only while running. While setting the timing which went well I noticed a small puddle of oil on the ground underneath the oil filter, with lots of spray on the alternator. I filled the engine with 20W50 and new oil filter yesterday before setting the timming. I suspected the oil was to thick so I changed the oil to 10w30 and a new filter which did not help, still leaking at the oil filter/housing seal. I observed spray from the bottom of the filter housing/oil filter gasket which comes around 15-20 deconds after starting the motor. The motor was rebuilt a few years ago but it never ran until yesterday. Am I looking at a bad oil pump, pressure relief valve install, blocked oil passages? I'm stumped. The oil filter housing gasket isn't leaking, its bone dry, the dip stick rubber hose connection is good. I guess i will need a new oil pump. Any help or ideas identifying the problem would be great.
  14. @popovmI was able with the help of @Allen Laneget the ball sighted in. Idle is smooth at 850 rpm. Only problem now is oil is seeping out between the filter and housing on when running. Always something.
  15. Got the Tii motor to start on the fifth or sixth turn of the key this morning. (I realized I wasn’t filming the start-up) Not to say there weren’t many attempts last night. After I got everything ready for the start-up the K-Fish pump was leaking gas through the o-rings on top. UPS had a trail derailment in California that had my package of new O-rings so the hunt was on to find some correct non-OEM O-rings. I found some at a local Ace Hardware and the result was a successful startup. Now it’s time to set the timing. A whole new to-do list is now in front me. A special thanks to @Allen Lane , if it wasn’t for him and all his help with the project I would not be doing this. . @John76 for all of the wiring diagrams and all of the forum members who answered all of my questions. @JsnPpp for the cold start relay board @BMW 1600-2for the cold start relay harness (I don’t think it would have started without those items) @Kaifor the Tii engine and varied accessories. Here is a new question, what’s the best way to set the timing looking through the viewing port on the transmission? Seems almost impossible to see down there with a timing light. IMG_3942.mov
  16. PM me about the arm rests. Look much better than what I have.
  17. @John76I'll take a look at that tomorrow. Thanks for the information.
  18. @Henningis this the notch you are referring too? I had to turn the body 150degrees for this to line up.
  19. @'76mintgrün'02 I actually used your icon image to orient and clock the distributor it looks like a model 002. @Henning I actually popped that line while releasing the chain hoist(I went a bit too fast). Good thing they are replacable, I'm headed to the barn shortly to check out your suggestion.CBD537A9-6B02-403A-AD47-4B844A39742D.heic
  20. @2002afanPM me and I'll buy the steering lock/ignition.
  21. Thanks for all of the comments to my questions. I can’t really pick one as the correct fix. This site is the best. Everyone is so helpful. When I get my starter on Monday I’ll give it a go. Hopefully the K-Fish pump is good to go. @John76 your drawings are the best!!
  22. @Mark92131I have the Bosch Ref Coil. 1.8ohm.
  23. @John76does anything change on the diagram change since I am using a74’ Tii motor?
