  1. I’ve seen many ‘02s and other BMWs outside Mountain Auto Sport on Main St. in Ludlow. I don’t know anything about them though.
  2. I just received my 5 speed conversion kit and spoke to Jim today about it. He is definitely passionate about his pistons! And he enjoys the conversation while he’s recovering… those pistons and new Rally engine sound amazing. Expecting 250+hp out of an M10…
  3. They literally just called me to tell my transmission is shipping! All is good.
  4. Agree it could be fuel delivery related. I had a similar issue recently. Turned out the secondary Venturi on the primary barrel of my 32/36 Weber moved and twisted out of position. It was loose in the holder so must have just rattled around. Replaced and rebuilt the carb and has never run better! Easy to check by just removing your air filter.
  5. FYI the pricing on the MM website is not current. Jim quoted me $6995 for a 245 back in September. The reality is he won’t sell you one unless you find a good one for him to rebuild. I decide to go with the 240 instead.
  6. I spoke to Jim today and all seems good - except he was out of commission for a few weeks for a medical issue. I have an order in for a a 5 speed conversion and was getting worried when I saw this post and did not get a call back!
  7. Ansa sport muffler. Removed from my ‘76 with center tail pipe. Front hanger was bolted to differential support and rear hanger is the stock position. $100 plus shipping. Can include the front muffler (I think it’s stock) if you want as well.
  8. I registered my ‘76 In MA that I bought in NH without a title and only a bill of sale. No problems at all. The RMV website might be able to answer for sure though.
  9. Ah yes. I noticed that in the schematic and in the Haynes manual too. Before I put it back together I searched many pictures on this forum and saw most have the bolts installed from the top and since it came apart that way, I went with it.
  10. Yes, I've checked that the valve is moving fully and the cable is not slipping. Interesting about the hole always allowing flow. this could be it but I don't think it flowed through when I bench tested it. Perhaps the water pressure in my house wasn't enough. And maybe when I first installed it the outside air coming in was much cooler because the air temp was lower and the engine wasn't up to temp? I'm just trying to figure out if its working normally before I pull the bugger out. Not easy with the heater box installed...
  11. @Buckeye What did I install backwards?? A little more info would be helpful. I thought I installed everything exactly as they came apart but who knows if that was correct...
  12. Looks good! Just did mine as well. And resealed the diff.!
  13. Is the heater control valve supposed to stop the flow of hot water through the heater core completely when heat is set to “cold”? I rebuilt my heater box and control valve (with Blunttech kit) and I swear when I bench tested and initially installed in the car it did stop the flow. This was nice because I could let unheated air into the cabin by moving the left climate control to “heat” and the right control on “cold”. It now seems to let some hot water run through the core with this setting. The return heater hose is hot and it blows warm air. I would like to be able to let unheated air through the box. Is this normal operation?
  14. Ugh. Thanks! So much for original miles I guess.. so the fix is either replace with the w=1.39 or have mine recalibrated...
  15. My speedometer is off over 15mph at highway speeds. I have a ‘76 with a 3.90 diff (confirmed because I just resealed it). So I expected to see W=1.39 on the back of the speedometer but I do not. Can anyone tell me what I have based on the picture? Is there another way to verify the speedometer?
  16. I second the easy outs. Worked like a charm. https://www.amazon.com/Damaged-Screw-Remover-Extractor-EasyOut/dp/B07HGSPQDV/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=Easy+out&qid=1585691093&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFQSFEzNk5XVlU3VVImZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAxNjE3ODcyTjBRMDUzUFZVNkQ0JmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA2MTI0MDMyNDBOUjMxNE5SQ08yJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
  17. Just received the set I bought. Very nice! Thanks Kevin.
  18. Thanks. Looks like ‘84. The head is stamped with E21 75 so that is likely original but the block apparently is not. What does factory replacement mean?
  19. I’ve read everything I can find on this topic but I’m still unclear what it means that my engine has no VIN. I was told by PO when I bought the car about a year ago that it had the original engine. It’s a ‘76. I know I should have checked... Thoughts? Is there another place to look for VIN?
  20. I have a square bottle on my 76 and it fits fine on the existing mount behind the brake booster.
