  1. Yes, I need a 'tuna can' brake booster for a 1968 1600. One that is known to work would be terrific.
  2. Hi all - I've searched the archives but I can't find some info on how to clean out and refurbish this little box. The lever doesn't move. It looks like one side can be pried off but there are two pins that hold one end in place. Thanks for the help!
  3. Hydraulic pedal box Brake booster MC
  4. Mike, thanks. Here's what I see looking at the hub: the male connector is on the left side pointing towards the dash. The female lead fits, tightly, in a gap between the left stalk and the center. I can't see this going another way but it's a tight fit. As for the spring loaded nib on the back of the steering wheel, that's fixed in place. I really can remember how this fits together...
  5. Hi everyone - I'm re-installing the steering wheel on my '68 1600 and....I can't find the pics when I removed it, dang it. 1. where do I thread the horn lead thru -- inside the stalk assemblies or outside? (right or left side?) 2. How does the inner ring with the copper align with the wheel? 3. any other tips? See pictures. Thanks for the help!
  6. Hi - I'm looking for a replacement heater box, core, and fan. Let me know if you can help.I have a '68 1600. Thanks!
  7. Hi all - The engine from my '68 1600 is out while the engine area is repaired of some rust and painted. I'm still learning abut this car since I bought it late last year; engine runs but the car hasn't been road-worthy (brakes, etc). The shop owner will let me use his shop to clean up the engine. He suggested I can use his sand blaster on some of the brackets and other parts while they're easy to get to. This is new to me: what would you do? Which parts should/could be cleaned safely. And as for sand blasting...? All suggestions welcome. Thanks!
  8. Hi all - I'm pulling the engine to clean and fix up the engine bay and I want to replace the mounts. My '68 1600 has a round left side mount. I've read to the forum that square mounts are from later cars. Any preferences or recommendations between the two? Could I fit a square on the left side? Thanks!
  9. Hey guys - I'm pulling the wiring from a '68 1600 and the last wire I can't figure out is this one: A single wire that branches off a main artery in the engine bay, thru the bulkhead and into the passenger footwell and into and behind a side panel. The only thing to power is the dome light but mine is above the driver’s door! Where does this single wire go? Thanks!
  10. LimeySteve, I have the same task ahead of me: wires cut in engine bay, etc. Would you say dashboard removal is necessary or can it be done with still in? Not looking forward to it...but it'll get done.
  11. Speaking of VIN info, I've tried the info.grouparchiv... email a few times and I'm getting this error message: The response was: DNS Error: 4311209 DNS type 'mx' lookup of bwmgroup.com responded with code SERVFAIL Anyone else having an issue?
  12. Paul - Welcome! I'm new here, too, also in Chicagoland.... and also with a 1600 from '68. Survivor car that sat for 30 years. Lots to do to get it running, but it's all there. Hope we can compare notes!
