Thursday pretty much finished with the floor not 100%. I will hit it all again with the welder from the bottom when I put the car on the lift after setting the doors.
Cut out and installed two stiffener panels between the side rails, and the tunnel…filling the gap left where I cut those existing off an inch plus because of rust…

Nice progress👍
I find it very difficult to fill a gap on thin metal like using those clamp things makes you do. By making the patch 1mm larger than the hole and chamfering edges, like this ....//¨¨¨¨ , I can use more current and get better joint. Ever tried that Barney?
I guess you could still make wider slots for the clamps, somebody uses magnets.
Tommy on large gaps I use a piece of copper held in place by super magnets to back up the gap while welding…

I made a road trip with a couple of 2002 guys up to Waco to meet up with the Dallas bunch… Looks like no work Saturday or Sunday.
Pictures of the next patch I plan to start on Monday…

Working my way through a ton of little small projects the last couple of days trying to get the car ready for the painter on Thursday of next week… when you glass bead blast a car, there’s an area in the center of the hood /on the trunk lid and the roof of a regular car that you can’t really bead blast for fear of warping the steel… the hood ended up having three layers of single stage paint. I had to use the side grinder with a sanding disk to get it off the chemical stripper would not touch it.
Spent better part of two days working on the small trough that catches water that bypasses the canvas roof and
funnels it down to to catch basins that drain it out in the wheel wells
Misc. repairs…
