  1. So I am missing the bolt that holds the assembly in place.  Anyone know where I can get one or the size?  With no part number I have no clue.

I'm replacing the trans in the next few weeks but have to drive it from North Jersey to Poughkeepsie NY.  I suppose I could plug it somehow, but the bolt seems to be the easiest fix.

  2. Everything looks in good condition except the teeth are a little banged up but nothing serious.  My O-ring looks a bit flat comparing to your picture.

What holds the cable into the housing?  The screw holds the housing but what keeps the speedo cable from coming out?  It is the same screw that passes through the opening in the housing and clamps down the cable as well?

Going the squeeze my oversized body underneath tonight to check it out.

  3. I didn't loosen anything...

I lost my speedo and fluid was coming out (cable came out on its own).  I need to get under the car and take a look and see.  It looks like there is a c clip holding the speedo cable to the housing (which im missing) and need to see how that screw holds it in and if it is also missing.

  4. So I have my car up on ramps and the speedometer cable isn't hooked up.  I pulled on the housing to see if it was tight and it just pulled out easily.

    1. Am I missing parts or are the bushings in the diagram already press fit into the housing?

    2. Should the housing be fairly tight in the transmission?  It came out with little or no force?

    3.  Is the housing held into place with the o'ring only?

Sorry but the diagram is not too descriptive.

  5. I've only ordered once from IE but when you email them and a guy with the last name Ireland emails you back immediately, I'm happy with the customer service and feel like someone cares.

No issues and soon to buy bars, springs etc...

  6. I have a bunch of fluid dripping from what looks to be around my trans... Yesterday my speedo stopped working.  I cant lift the car up until I get home but...

If the speedo cable cam out of the trans, would trans fluid spew out?  The two happened close to the same time so I'm thinking yes?  Fluid seems thicker than oil.

Just wondering if that would happen if speedo cable broke loose.

  7. I own a printing business... Digital printing, offset printing,l arge format printing and direct mail.  Everything in between...  Its a lot of fun.  New projects all the time...  Only problem is email.  That being said, I would never want my kids to go into it.  Interestingly enough I might encourage my son the get his education but look into a skilled trade profession.  That or maybe a fly fishing guide.

    1. Receive email

    2. Get phone call 2 min later to see if I got email.

    3. Email to see if I looked at email yet

    4. Call to see if they can get their information soon

    5. Email with another part of the job they forgot.

    6. Go back to step 2

I spend half the day wrangling emails...

  8. Does anyone have a cad drawing of the door panels for the '02 or know of a source for them?  I can draw them if need be but there will be some trial and error.  I want to see if I can cut the door cards on my flatbed router but need an accurate vector drawing.

I want to do the same thing with the trunk panels but will start with the doors.

    Thanks.

  9. My guibo is cracked and needs replacing.  My car shakes sometimes at take off, vibrates at speed and whines incessantly when driving.  Knowing I am replacing guibo and bolts... What else should I replace at the same time as best practice?

I've searched the forum and I don't see a comprehensive thread.  THe driveshaft center bearing seems logical.  What other parts should be replaced while I'm there?

When I check realoem, there are a ton of parts but what should I (or can I) change... Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I address the differential at a different time and its shortcomings.

Also, from the looks of it it would be a good time to replace the shifter bushings.

    Thanks.

  10. One last question,

SO my resistor wire is beaten up and looks like its melted in some spots.  It looks like in a search I should use a .9 ohm ballast resistor with my black coil.  I assume I can use regular automotive wiring if using the ballast resistor?  What gauge?

  11. I'm not really keen on drilling holes in to my car and feel like I am somehow doing it an injustice and making it more vulnerable to the elements....

I was looking at installing a Carter fuel pump and the bolt that comes with the pump would require a decent size hole.  My oil catch can is the the same.

I'm going to copy Marshall and make a mount for the catch can out of aluminum and use existing holes, but for the fuel pump etc is there a best practice for treating holes after the are drilled?

  12. Thanks.  I did disconnect that wire with no ill effect and removed a clump of wires from my engine bay.  Right now the original wire is hooked up but it is not in great shape.  I also have power to the idle shutoff solenoid.

I did disconnect a blue sheathed wire from the underside of the manifold.  Is that just a smog related sensor.

  13. Marshall,

The picture I posted is from Blunt's site and says E10 ST Street  Swaybar Set....

Thats why I'm wondering about the mount for the front bushings.  If that is their set, it has no tabs, just two holes to mount.

Also, can that tab be welded in place on the car?  Would hate to think I need to remove in order to fix... IE bars would look even better.

    Paul

  14. Marshall,

The clips I removed that hold the bushings had a tab that slid into that broken piece front side and two bolts holding it rear side. The pictures I see to mount the swaybars seems to be one bolt back, one bolt front (no tab).   Am I missing something?  I see the IE bar configuration but it appears from the picture I could use the same bar with new mounts or the Blunt bar.  ST has no photo so I'd have to see.

Based on the images it seems like I would use one hole that was drilled already and need to drill the second.  Unless there is a second hole drilled already I don't see.  I don't see any mounts with the "tab"

    Happy Easter...
