  1. Hey Guys,

Here's a fun one for you. I just installed a rebuilt motor in my 02. I am running 9.5:1 compression pistons and dual 40mm Weber DCOE's on a e12 head, mechanical advance dizzy with petronix... and so on.

    Now here is my problem:

Number 2 cylinder not firing, based on the fact that when I pull the #2 plug wire she idles just a ruff as when all wires are in..

Things I've checked: Compression 150-160 lbs in all cylinder

Good Spark on #2 plug when I pull it out and ground it to strut stud.

Plug has fuel residue on it so I think I'm getting fuel.

    Any thoughts?

If you guys think its a carb. problem is there anyone in the CT area or can anyone recommend someone who is good at debugging side drafts.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

  2. I am looking for a nice set, no tears in the rubber and no gouges in the plastic. I can polish out surface marring. I would settle for one if ones better then the other.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

  4. Nothing is torqued as of now. We'll see what happens when the car is together. I was worried that the blasting of the springs may have effected the spring rate but I agree that the lack of weight in the car is the root cause.

    Thanks for the help.

  5. I did roll it back and forth. I went back through my records and found some phots of disassembly. with the motor, trans and gas tank stilll in it was sitting pretty high. I think I have to wait until I have the weight of the doors, glass, trunk, hood and interior (besides engine and trans) before I worry.

  6. Hey Guys,

Quick question, I just finished installing new front and rear suspensions in my 02. The car is just a shell right now but when I put it on its wheels and set it down it seems like the ride height is way too high. I expect the front to be high without an engine and trans but the rear wheel gap is ~3.25". When I disconnect the rear shocks it drops to 2.75". They are new Bilstein HD's and I had the Suspension Technique springs blasted and re-powder coated (they measure ~10.5" free length). New urethane bushings all around as well if that would have anything to do with it?

    Any thoughts,

    Thanks

  7. I made this for doing panel replacement and paint on my 02. Now its ready for a new home. It has swivel casters in the front for easy turning and has pneumatic tires. They bolts up to the standard sub-frame mount locations. They do have some undercoat and inka over spray on them.

I would like to recover the cost of the casters; say $50.00.

I am in CT, local pick up only.

  8. Hey Guys,

I am toying around with the idea of using late model grilles on my 73'. I know the late to early grill swap is a lot of work; has anyone done the reverse? If so do you have any tips? I like the idea of low maintenance plastic grilles and kidney grille.

If it is feasible I would be interested in a used grille set. The kidney grille could be in ruff shape since I would buy a new one after mocking was complete.

    Thanks

  10. I purchased a NOS FEBI LASO oil pump for a 320i with the intent of changing the pick with the one from my 02. I just has a brand new 02 pump fall into my lap so I no longer need it.

$150 for the pump and additional 2002 oil pump pick up (has been cleaned). A new pump from Bavarian will run you $296.
