  1. The 50f8 idles are way to big, every M10 engine I have ever done for the street (including mine with a 316 cam and 12.5:1 pistons) I use a 45f9 Idle jet. One other thing to look at is the carburetor casting where the idle mixture screw comes through (behind the throttle plate, its easier to see with the carb off the manifold) sometimes people tighten the mixture screw down so much it breaks the casting. If this has happened you will never get a good idle mixture.

    I'll try that, thanks!

  2. fuel pressure is holding steady at 2.2, and no change with float height variation. I would be inclined to agree with the shafts being an issue but it runs so poorly under a load as well. I really don't want to run this thing much, I'm afraid I'm going to wash out the new rings

  3. I am running 40 mm DCOE side drafts on a fresh motor. I have a rough idle with and zero power under load. I am running standard Bosch plugs with a petronix equipped mechanical advance distributor (30 degrees advances at 3000RPM). I think it may be getting too much fuel due to the fact the plugs are fouling fairly quickly, they smell like gas and there is a gas residue in all 4 throats of the carbs. Not to throw another wrench in but I get an intermittent pop out of the exhaust. Would the rough idle and lack of power be a result of too much fuel and what might be the cause.

    Any help is always appreciated

    Thanks,

    Andrew

  4. I just finished restoring my grilles for my 73 however I damaged the top slat black outer cover.

Does anyone have one kicking around or maybe a really beat up grille with the top pass cover in good shape?

  5. Looking for the following:

1 trunk cylinder with key (the less scratches the better)

1 upper Autoflung seat belt cap

4 round caps that go over 17mm seat belt bolts

1 center console (No rips and minimal amount of holes)

1 nice 3 series rear view mirror, (no corrosion around edge)

  6. Checked for leaks, none. When I put my hand over number 1,3,4 intake, the motor bogs down. When I put over over 2 no change in the way it runs. However I think its safe to say we have spark in that cylinder because if i disconnect the brake booster vacuum line (which draws off of #2) and spray starter fluid in I can get it to smooth out. I am basically bypassing the carburetor at that point.

I think I need to open up the carburetor. Any idea which components I should focus on?

  7. Yes, thought it might be a bad wire but I switched two of the wires and the problem remained in #2. When I put the plugs original I put some anti seize on them (not a lot). do you think the residue could be interrupting the ground though the block? A long shot I know.

I don't want to run the motor too much because I don't want to was the new ring out.
