  1. This is my new Ti that i got for FREE!!! Than you Glen! She is in a bad state but i just cant let this one die! She is goin back to Colorado orange(the original colour), and is going to stay bone stock. Does anybody know what wheels those are? From what BMW are the? All the parts are there, and theres a nice sport steering wheels aswell, although it need restoration. Also, is that a Ti head? doesnt make sense. The vin is: 1691398 (for you vince ) Regards Jacques van staden
  2. Hey guys, Just an update, I am the new owner of a 2002 ti!!!!!!!!!!!!! Admittidly in a crude condition, but it is mine. The chassis no. is: 1691398. The original colour is colorado, but it is verona atm. But i will restore it back to its original colour. The car has rust everywhere and is in dire need of restoration, but I just couldnt let this chassis rust away. Oh, and, i did get an engine with it. It has all the ti goodies on(intake, exhaust, dizzy) but the thing that bithers me is that the numbers doesnt match and the head says "121T" not "121Ti". Has anybody ever seen that? I will post pix bit later. Ragards, Jacques van Staden
  3. Thanks to all for your replies. You guy are always an invaluble source. Im going to have a look at the car this weekend and wil certainly report back on my findings. It seems to be a true ti chassis, but dont have the vin on me, so will post it when i do. I do agree from my research so far, that the tii is more popular in the US, but in europe it seems to be that the historic racers(mostly ti) fetch the top dollar(or euro rather ). The owner has 2 ti's, so ill also ask him for the vin of his other car as you would probably ant that vince. Thanx again Regards Jacques
  4. Hey guys, I just found an original 2002 ti for sale near me for little money, the problem is, its has no engine, but the rest is complete, it also has a bit of rust but not in the strut towers or frame rails. What i want to know is, is a ti worth as much as a tii for instance? I dont want to build it up if i would have been better off with a tii. Also, how hard is it to source a 121ti head? I know im not gona get my money back if i sell, but i would like to loose less if i have to sell some day... Thanx in advance Jacques
  5. I took these just after I bought my car in 2005. and The ones whithout the bumper are recent. Excuse them if they look badly shot, im a noob when it comes to this, and to add insult to injury, i cant edit. Im the second owner ad bought it from an old lady after her husband passed, as it was his car. She told me if they whent to the shops and couldnt find parking in the shade he would go back home and try again later. Paint still looks good, 2 rust spots on the sills just in front of the rear wheels that im fixing at the moment, then its off to the interior... Enjoi

  7. I have a '70 malaga 02 that i used to use daily till 2 years ago and then only on weekends for fun drives. I always wanted to restore the car to concourse condition but due to a student budget, it would always have to be done by me, and that scared the crap out of me. Not a lot had to be done cosmetically, but mechanically i kept everything in good order, although an engine rebuild is due. But this weekend i started by repairing 2 small dents in my boot that the previous owner made by forcing the lid closed on too big an object. I beat the dents back with hammer and dolly and a little bit of spot putty and its ready for painting. Im quite pleased with myself, and happy with the results. Just wanted to share my joy with people that care It truly is more fun to do things yourself than to send it off to the shop every time, and it saves money. Its dark and raining now, but will post pictures tomorrow. Keep well Regards from South Africa Jacques
  8. Thanx, gona try that now. I guess i can also rotate dizzy to check that side. And no, im running std dizzy with new points, cap, rotor. My rotor was scored, as were the contacts in the cap. Is that indicative of a bad coil? Regards Jacques
  9. Hey guys, I started up my car again yesterday, as it stood for about 2 weeks without me touching it. It started but ran VERY rough, so pulled the plug leads one by one and it seems cyl 3 is dead as nothing changed without its lead on. I then tested to see if there was spark in that lead, and there was. I pulled the plug to see if that might be the problem, it looked good and gave a blue spark. So now i have no idea why its dead... BTW, its has a singe solex PDSI40, si it cant be fueling or the other cyl wouldnt run. Is my logic flawed somewhere? Does anybody know what can cause this? Any Help would be appreciated. Thanx Jacques
  10. Go for it! It would work well with an M2. I wouldnt cut an origional rust free tii though...
  11. Yesterday I wanted too look at my plugs and got fed up with my "one size fits none" plug spanner, so i went out and bought a propper one, then last night I adjusted my rear brakes and got irritated bt the fact that iI have to remove the wheel, i almost 'modified' one of my own spanners to work with the wheel still on. then for some obscure reason I opened my 02's tool kit, and in it, sitting before me, was the perfect leangth plug spanner AND the brake spanner I wanted to make!!! Sometimes being stupid has a very good feeling to it.....
  12. Hey guys! Im looking to buy a tired old ti to create a race replica from and Ive been looking for info on this car for about two weeks now. I cant seem to find where i found this pic, as Ive had it for a while. Does anybody know any detail on this car, iirc this was an origional race car. But i could be mistaken. This is quite possibly the best looking racing car ive ever seen.... Thanx and regards. Jacques
