Hmm, so it sounds like it would not hurt to go with tab and not need it than the other way around. Thanks, you guys are fantastic. Full of information.

So I was organizing parts and getting ready to take some parts to have media blasted when I noticed that my spare front subframe has an extra tab on the right side. The only thing I know is that different between the two is that the one with the tab is from a 73 and the one I took from my car is a 72. Does anyone know what the little tab is for? All opinions and information
are appreciated.

Sorry to highjack the thread, but nice work Maurice. could you elaborate on your steps and what are your plans for the inside of your fender?

Here's to the next 10,000. We all benefit from your vast O2 knowledge. You are a great resource for us.

Thank you all!

The drain went down to the rocker on the rear Mike and I plan to follow the advice of drilling a hole in the wheelwell there. I am talking about the front of the car below what I think is referred to as the "a" pillar

Thanks Andrew. I bought all things IE so I am figuring there is compatibility. Thanks again

Any chance of showing a photo taken a few steps farther back as to where you drilled the hole for the front tube?

Yes Daron, I did! With air axles, no grease needed

In goes the rear sub frame. Seen lots of posts/pics involving rear sub frame of better documenting thanI can do so none of them.
I do have a question about my job, if I could please get an opinion or two. the munt that holds the semi trailing arms were a little oblong and my remedy was to get the Ireland adjustable mounts. Now it seems I have read somewhere on here that I can now only use stock bushings. True or flase?
The rear installed. The differential is just taking up room, I have a LSD for later install in the future. The bottom of the car seemed to be in really good shape with kind of a original air about it so I made an attempted at addressing the surface rust with POR-15 and trying to blended in.

Reposting to here cuz I don't understand if or how to continue a post on the blog section (verses here, the blog archive). Okay, name is Larry, I have had my car (shell) for a long long time. It started out life as a 72 tii. I have never seen it whole. I bought it as a shell to transfer parts from another-very rusty- tii that I also have.
While it is a disassembled state I figured now is the time to freshen up and renew as I go along. I decided to start with the rear subframe and then move to the front. After I stripped out the rear sub I cleaned up the underneath of the car. the under was in really good shape with just alittle surface rust so I cleaned up the rust, por-15 where needed and then tried to just make the underneath something like it would have looked back in 1972. Not too pretty. Here are some pictures of what I have been doing the last few months.

This came off a parts car. From a 73 tii with a rotten body and stuck motor

FINALLY! I have something so rare it cannot be priced. I will try to take a better picture of it after I practice disassembly of it. That is if anyone wants to know more. Or I will just chuck. Or more than likely I will stick it in the corner of the garage for another year.

So my project continues and I am still moving along on rebuilding my rear subframe. Between doing things I want to do and have to do I am sorting parts that i have gotten along the way and up pops a question I wanted some input. These 2 diffs are both probably boat anchors but the one on the left has this weird aluminum collar with bolt holes right where they should be to bolt on to the differential. Anyone know what the deal is with this? Nothing? Something? Not worth a faq post?

I would like one

Thank you

I am finally able to start my 02 build. Starting at the ground and working up I am deep into the rear of the car. I have the car up and the subframe down and apart. While I am waiting for new parts from everywhere I have been reading up on what people have done. I have noticed that some of these rebuilds end up where the paint is kind of a dark green. Is this the case or am I just seeing things. If it truly is green, where is that color? How come it is green? Anyone?

Even if someone put in the state in which they reside, that would be cool. Would that be too personal?
