  1. Another place to check is(are?) the tubes that go up to the handbrake.  A weird thing happened to me.  During the winter when it was too cold o do anything else in the garage I tried to install my parking brake cables and they were blocked!  Trying everything from fishtape to a small steel rod to get them through I finally realized that they were plugged up with ice.  Heating up the tubes with my heat gun I was able to get a small home made fishtape through each tube.

I knew I needed to get that moisture out so with a mix of brake clean, PB Blaster, shop towel strips and compressed air I was able to clean a lot of gunk out of those tubes.  Good place to clean if you want to make those cables slide unobstructed.

  2. Though I have no experience in AC in a 2002 my parts car does have all the parts to install the Frigiking system.  That of course is not my focus and who knows, I might never get to that point in my car.  That said, I have a Vanagon/Westy that are notorious for inferior AC systems.  In trying to get some kind of cool going inside of that I used

It maybe just my imagination but it did seem to be the coldest that system ever functioned.  Of course I had installed a new compressor, receiver/dryer and cleaned the system.  Just a little FYI

  3. Damaged bearings?  If so a rebuild with an IE kit is in order.  No bearings in that kit, just the seals needed to get rid of that nasty grease stain.

  4. That is the rub Minty.  these are brand new bearings. I got them sometime in the last year.  I do not remember taking them out of a box, so no identifying marks.  seems I bought them from some place that had tii in his name, Roger that?

So I guess I will just continue my building of the struts (proper washer order) and see what happens.  Thanks for the responses.

  5. In rebuilding my front end and reading all the posts about it I have come find out that there is a range from "not worth putting on your car" to "this is what you need".  I have some bearings, how do I tell what is and what is not ok?  any visual clues?   Sorry to offend if this has been covered before and I should be able to find what I am looking for with search.
